I’m sorry if this is old news to you but I didn’t know until just now, Barbara died in June last year, I thought people who knew her if only (as I did) online with all her foibles and particularities might be interested. Sad news.
Oh that’s sad, I knew her on here of course but also met her IRL when I worked at Simpson travel pre covid as her house was with us and in my area. A real character, absolutely charming IRL albeit eccentric! RIP ![]()
Thats a polite way of saying ‘mad as a box of frogs’, but thats why I absolutely adored her posts on here, she seemed the most incredible character who had lived the most extraordinary life! What sad news, although a life certainly well lived!
That’s sad news, she certainly was a unique character.
I met her once irl but fairly briefly and not to have any meaningful discussion.
My only interaction with her was when she misread, or skim read one of my posts some years ago and then insinuated that I was lying.
Sad news, I always got on fairly well with her (online only on here).
Very sad.
I just hope it was a good death at a proper age. That to me is the best we can hope for.
She was 77 according to the notice, I had thought she was a bit older than that.
Do we know any more ? I too thought she was a bit older than only 77. Wonder if there was any reason this was “expected”. She seemed a good sort.
I think she said in some of her posts she had cancer.
@vero thank you for letting us know. All too often someone “disappears”. Sometimes it’s obvious why - they’ve had enough of SF - but there are others who have been around for a long time and suddenly they are not here any more and it’s hard not to wonder what might be the reason, especially if they are of a good age.
I don’t recall Barbara on here but it has made me think on another…namely Peter Goble.
What happened to him, I wonder?
I have looked and found nothing, it’s because long time no news that I looked for him and Carol Lockoki and Barbara.
Ditto. Ages ago I managed to identify the village he lived in (forget where it is now) and checked their on-line obituaries a couple of times without spotting anything. He’s not visited SF since 2022.
PS: if he is still with us he would be 87.
PPS: wasn’t difficult to find again and I can’t see any notification of a death at https://avis-de-deces.ouest-france.fr/ going back to 2022.
Oh
, only knew her on here, but still, it always comes as a surprise to me to hear news like that out of the blue.
I don’t recall her either but still sad news for those who did.
