Our daughter lives in Munich, she does not cook dumplings etc. She is also married to an Austrian, who has to have his dumpling fix when they eat out.

In Germany right now making a pig of myself with Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus

In Baden-Württemberg it is what they call the equivalent of mardi gras (only it is usually a Thursday) it kicks off Carnaval (= Fasnet).
