Had more shelf life than a lettuce but I think after Sept he’s off into the wilderness. He may poke his head up in 2027 for the presidentials in 2027, personally I thought he’d do better & take the electorate into consideration. I see DDVP has started a new parti in view of the upcoming elections in 2027.
If it wasn’t so serious, it would be amusing that all the different factions who are united in opposition to the proposals, are at the same time emphatically disassociating themselves from one another.

Many French are behaving like ostriches and totally ignoring the fact that France has been living beyond its means for too many years.
Ignoring demographics and wanting pension age reduced despite people living longer and a falling birth rate and not enough younger people working and paying taxes is showing them up as stupid and selfish.
This applies to any other country whose electorate refuses to face facts.

I suspect that BECAUSE it’s been able to do so for such a long time and apparently everything is still fine, that’s seen as confirmation the country is okay like this.

I expect that’s exactly how many people think. Trouble is, you can only stretch the elastic so far and then it suddenly snaps.

True. Human nature. When any advantage or bonus is given over time it becomes a ‘right’.
All governments are now facing their voting public with urgently needed belt tightening measures. People are going to scream “unfair” no matter what. Far easier getting things done in a dictatorship!
Although most of the present dictatorships and wannabe dictatorships seem to have economic policies that will only exacerbate existing problems.
