Hello, about two weeks ago I suddenly rediscovered the BBC Sounds page on the internet. There is a wealth of stuff available there, and the part that really took my attention was a long-running programme called ‘Soul Music’. This is not about the genre known as soul music, instead each episode focuses on a particular piece of music (more often than not a pop song), and has various people (usually ordinary members of the public) explaining exactly why the piece was so important to them. I’d say I’ve listened to about thirty episodes so far, and two-thirds of them have been really captivating.
