I have friends visiting over the summer who fancy a day at the beach.
The nearest areas are from Bordeaux south to Biarritz. They will have cars and fancy day trips, but could stay a night.
They are attracted to its "wide open spaces, get away from it all" look, especially with all of those trees.
Any suggestions on places to go, especially a bit off the beaten track ? Good and bad points all welcome. All I can see are Mimizan and Biscarosse, which look good for what they are, but are a bit big, surfer-ish and young for our tastes.
The area north of Bordeaux as far as the Gironde is possible too, though I gather it is a bit windswept and stoney. Again I could be completely wrong so am open to all suggestions.
