Well the powers that be claim the gantries will spot the tags, so we shall see. Maybe they now have extra sensitive detectors which can pinpoint a gnat on Mars…
if you have a Bippy tag that will work anywhere in France, plus Spain Portugal and Italy.
It’s only if you are paying manually that you will have to go to the relevant website, though maybe they will have a centralised location eventually.
But yes like anything new it will take some time for people to become accustomed.
Frankly, I’m not that confident even going through the 30KPH lanes. I’m just waiting for a mouthful of barrier one day
At least the Morgan can go under the barrier.
I will carry on ignoring motorways as I have done for years now.
My ATMB tag has made several trips up and down A13 since Libre Flux went active and it bips when passing under each gantry. It can be used with any vehicle in péage sections as the vehicle outline registers the appropriate tarif so how does it work with Flux Libre? There certainly hasn’t been any publicity other than the tags of Autoroute Concessionaires will work on Flux Libre.
It’s worth noting that if a tag doesn’t bip then it’s likely that it didn’t register which could result in a penalty. Journeys can be verified on Sanef’s website by registration number and an account opened to cover such mishaps.
That’s encouraging.
I think it works thus: a car goes under the gantry and photographed. The gantry waits for a tag to acknowledge. If the gantry receives acknowlegement, payment is processed and the photographed archived. If no acknowledgement, then the photograph is kept pending payment in 72hrs.
They do.
Passed through the Flux Libre just south of Rouen heading for Evereux a few weeks back and our trusty SANEF tag just beeped merily to itself, both going down and coming back. The cost is charged to the account registered to the Tag. ANPR does not come into it in these circumstances.
VG.
I don’t normally hear my BipandGo do any bipping as I mostly use it while on a motorbike, and it’s tucked away in a front pocket of my bike jacket where I can’t hear its musical tones!
And if the car has a badge but it hasn’t registered? The driver won’t know that and the payment won’t be made.
I wondered this myself! I only heard what I said above in a conversation and did not engage brain too much.
However, I have to say that I have never had a failure in a 30kph drive through (thank heavens - some of the bbadges of those trucks behind dominate my mirror ) yet I have many failures at the barriers. Maybe drive through technology is foolproof
I’m glad you put the laugh on the end of that statement
Yes, the beep always comes as a relief.
I’m always hovering over the brake, never quite convinced that it’s going to work
Went to Paris last July and the toll booths on the A14 were already closed, heard a beep on my tag somewhere in the vicinity of the old defunkt booths,so just carried on,i had no idea of the change at the time, there are a few random signs dotted about, but i hadn,t heard about it.
That’s what I have been trying to clarify. I have used tags for many years and never had a problem but with the pending introduction of Libre Flux I requested a replacement tag from ATMB to ensure the battery was reliable as the old tag was 14 years old.
Sanef website has provision for non-Sanef tag holders to sign up to check journey details (and pay) by registration plate but it has a 24 hour delay. My ATMB tag account also shows pending journeys within 24hrs of travel.
Damn just realised in my exhaustion after our trip I forgot to go on and pay . That’s an extra 20e then on top of the 279e to get on our ferry!
there was talk of them slightly extending the timeframe for paying online, which I believe is currently 72 hrs… but I think 12 days(?) is perhaps too much to hope for…
