Big problem Promesse de Vente?

The very best of luck, Sounds like a wonderful adventure indeed.

Hey, you actually had water. That’s luxury.

After a while I managed to getone tap working … in the cellar. The cellar with no electricity and a mud floor (or a pond, if it’s been raining). In the far corner of that cellar.

Better stop before we get on to ā€œliving in a shoebox in the middle of the roadā€ territory!

We just closed on our house in the Alpilles. My French isn’t good enough for contracts. I loaded our promesse into ChatGPT when I first got it to test AI that my kids were talking about and said pretend you are my notaire and review this and tell me the pertinent points that are key for me. It is as amazing. Allowed me to ask additional questions. Made me realize that if I passed then my 50 percent would go to the kids not my wife like our USA houses did so allowed me to bring it to attention and change. I did it with the acte de vente and all the other contracts and policies signed up to. I am no tech whizz but it’s made a huge difference. Even created a set of questions to ask the notaire as well.

I’m glad ChatGPT alerted you to an inheritance issue you hadn’t researched yourself. But you do need to get REAL advice, not just ChatGPT.

Just a shot in the dark, but it may have been an attempt to forestall a ā€œvice cachĆ©ā€ sort of thing if you couldn’t sell on.

I’m not thinking of selling any time soon, but when I do (assuming I don’t pop my clogs first) I will have a contract hammered down with caveat emptor and beyond. Our house is in pristine condition, but the last thing I want is someone to come after post sale on some pretext. So, have whatever experts examine whatever you like, but what you see is what you get :slightly_smiling_face:

Chat is good, but can also be spectacularly wrong. So people should always do what you are doing a cross-check with a real qualified person!
