Blair Mk II 🙄 Starmer just a bloke who can't say no

… except to Andy Burnham

Just when I thought he couldn’t make any more stupid decisions, he confuses defensive with offensive.

A recent photo of Starmer…

It would seem that Sir Keir has lost sight of which country struck the first blow in this conflict.
Also raises the question as to why the US wishes to use UK bases when they already have two carrier groups and numerous military land bases in the Middle East.

David Allen Green.

“We cannot say that the United States’ actions are against international law, but we condemn Iran’s retaliatory actions as against international law,” is neither a coherent nor a compelling position.

As such, the use of a phrase like “against international law” as a self-serving or partisan rhetorical device means international law can never get traction as a system of universal standards.

..and Lord Peter Ricketts.

“If you’re going to attack a country you have to show it is in self-defence and that there is some kind of imminent threat. You can’t make that case here…An indifference to international law is dangerous.”

I think he’s between a rock and a hard place.

He took the position that he was not going to participate in the attacks and, now that Iran is attacking neighbouring countries (including those with British populations and military presence), he’s agreed to support strikes against Iran’s offensive capabilities being used to attack those countries.

I suspect that, if he didn’t and British citizens were killed by Iranian strikes, he would be vilified by the same people who are criticising him now.

As I often say, politics is often about choosing the least worst of a bad set of options and nowhere near as simplistic as some would like.

Very true, but maybe don’t try to use an international law argument that doesn’t work.

Luckily, Mr Scully’s blinkered view on the region’s politics is not shared by those having to make the tough decisions forced on them by the maniac in the White House. He should be thankful that the UK pm isn’t Farage or Badenoch who would no doubt have already offered to participate in the bombing of Iran.

Yet another U turn by a pathetically weak and indecisive PM. He has to go!

In the middle of a potential world conflict?

I’ve lived and travelled extensively there Tim. I read Haaretz to get an inside Israel view. So i don’t think I’m blinkered. In fact the exact opposite :slightly_smiling_face:

There was no need for Starmer to stick his oar in at all. I think he’s just licking Trumps boots because of “the special relationship” Just like the fool Blair did with Bush.

I don’t think one can praise him for not doing what Farage would do  and Badenoch is only doing what oppositions do, if she actually had to join in, would she? I’m not so sure. It was Labour that got the UK into the Iraq war and here we go again.

I could be wrong of course and I’ll admit it. When, for example, I see other countries using Starmer’s (IMO flawed) “protect UK citizens” logic to join the conflict.

What Trump is doing is wrong, He didn’t consult Congress, he didn’t consult the UN, he didn’t consult his NATO allies, he didn’t consult his Number Ten poodle. I doubt he consulted his regional allies, though Saudi seems to have been playing a double game. No surprises from that foul regime.

Trump has been manipulated and played for a fool by Netanyahu (top marks for deviousness).

This is from Haaretz…

"In a joint statement by Starmer, France’s Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Friedrich Merz, the three said they agreed to work with the United States and regional partners to “will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially allowing necessary and proportionate defensive actions to destroy Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones at their source.”

I await developments :slightly_smiling_face:

“Meanwhile, France denied that it had sent an aircraft carrier to the Middle East.”

This is going to be “interesting”. What’s going to run out first, Iran’s drones or the US’s interceptors. I know where my money is and it’s not in dollars

John, I suspect you’ve never owned a poodle…-

This one’s barking very aggressively at a rather large Spanish bear

Should be a Russian bear.

Bush and Blair - a lighter moment

Thank you Sue but right now I can’t laugh at this situation. I don’t actually want Starmer to live one day longer.

That’s true Mark. Only a well behaved wire haired fox terrier and a less well behaved cocker spaniel.

The one currently in No. Ten is certainly barking (mad) :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

That’s pretty unpleasant. Maybe you meant to add the word “premiership” in there somewhere.

Otherwise I will leave you with Gandalf’s words on the subject.

Buy an RS3, then just do U turns, how would that make you feel?

Starmer, the fool, just can’t win  IMO he should just bugger off.
