Bois de Chauffage - mini pallet

Hi

I keep seeing ads for (usually) 3 steres of firewood stacked on a small pallet, shrink wrapped, delivered. Has anyone any experience of buying/using these; the price is slightly cheaper than our usual supplier. We have a storage issue at the moment and this arrangement would fit neatly under our lean-to.
Thanks for any help

I very much doubt that you could get 3 stere (3m cube) on a small pallet

Apparently there is wave of scams about wood deliveries - asking people to pay using some weird cheque scheme, or not providing what was ordered. Check the company is legit. Look up their Siret number and that the ad matches the address given.

You could get 3 stere on a standard pallet, it would be 3 metres tall …

We’ve seen ads on FaceAche where you pay for the wood ahead of time via some payment method in a Tabac and the wood gets delivered later.

Yeah, right…

A pallet of wood stacked 9 metres high sounds dangerous to me!

A Stere in my area oak cut 50cm long €55.
Or Chataignie €45
OR visit local saw mill a stere oak in 2 meter + you cut to your own length and split €28
or 12 steres delivered €38
Check on laboncoin maison jardinage for Bois d chauffage there are plenty of adverts, but go and see the man payment in cash on delivery always works for me.

A PCS voucher is the usual one asked for, and it’s not just wood scams, I’ve saved various customers 100s of € over the years, it’s a classic and there are so many scams out there, puppies to furniture and whatever else people want to buy, or sell!

3 stères of 30cm logs are only 0.66m3 a stère, so on a standard sized pallet that would probably be just less than 1m height.
