Booking a taxi from Montpellier airport

A friend is flying out from the UK next month to visit and will arrive at Montpellier mid-morning. She’s offered to get the train to Narbonne but unless things have changed, I believe the shuttle service stopped years ago and it means getting two different buses?

It’s kind of her to offer but her French is rusty and I’m happy to pay for a taxi to the station and book it in advance, so she only has the train to worry about.

Any advice gratefully received.

There seem to be a few companies offering a reservation service and I just wondered if anyone had used one?

Son used BlaBlaCar some years ago from Marseille to Perpignan before he actually moved. He also used it from Rennes to Brest a couple of times too.

Thank you, I’ll have a look at them.

Am I doing something wrong? Blabla is talking about buses and covoiturage.

No, it is car share which if someone is coming or being picked up, might have room for a paying passenger if going near or past where they want to be. Son paid €10 for his carshare.

This isn’t really a car share situation though, we need a normal taxi even if it’s more expensive.

Uber?

Can you pre-book an Uber? This lady doesn’t need to be looking for taxis on the day and wouldn’t be able to ring and speak French.

Is this any help, @Jennifer11 ?

You just book it on the app, which will be in English for her.

Thank you. She often takes Ubers, unlike me, so it might be easier if I let her do this and just hand over the money.

Hiya…the transport from the Airport to the nearest rail station Montpellier Sud de France is easy and frequent from there you can catch a connecting train to …well anywhere.

We use it quite a bit as do friends who fly in to MPL.

Taxis are also an easy option an depending on the time of day and the fare is around 15 euros to Montpellier Sud de France…

But but….there is also a train from Montpellier Sud de France , change at Sete for the trains to Narbonne…simple and all bookable on SNCF connect?

Thank you Mikey, I was hoping you would see this.

I’m a bit confused about the two stations thing, maybe I should check availability.

It’s really is very simple and nothing worry about.

If your friends speak no French that’s no probs at the airport too…(you probably know this)…they all speak English there and are happy to help.

If you go into Google maps and add the start as the arrivals and then say, Gare SNCF Narbonne as the destination, all of the steps are there to follow and the SNCF connect app is super too. (I’m teaching you to suck eggs here I know but really I have had folks arriving at the airport from all over the shop, none of whom speak a word of French and the all manage to catch the train and make connections in Nimes and son on….

Good luck :crossed_fingers:

There seem to be more TER type trains from St Roch than the TGV station. as our friend is with Easyjet and may not be on time, I’m wondering if it might be easier to just turn up at St Roch and take what’s available.

..I would plug the times in Google maps and yes, there are many more options from St Roch and perhaps look at the taxi from arrivals to St Roch to avoid the faffing around?

I think that’s a plan.
