You’re not alone. Quite a few people have pointed out that there doesn’t seem to be a noticeable scar on that ear.
Of course it was a stunt, appalling old shyster demagogue. Dragons’ blood I believe it’s called, made in Birmingham, comes in a little bubble.
This does now seem highly likely.
And did the CIA or whoever supply/pay the shooter on the roof? And did they really shoot him (surely a case for a contract lawyer)? Can you represent a dead person? Is the shooter really dead? Was he even there in the first place? So many questions, so much disappointment (which in French is ‘deception’ I am told, appropriate? 
)

Why has he not been assassinated yet? I think there were two attempts which both, failed, darn it.
He has gerrymandered Texas already. Probably he will try the same thing elsewhere.
