Hi, some years ago I went with a friend to a porcelain outlet/factory in Limoges area that had a huge pile of broken porcelain outside which was supposed to make it easy to find !
I cannot remember where it was and from searching on internet cannot find it ….. Unfortunately the person I went with is no longer alive.
Does anyone know where this is or perhaps it’s closed down ?
Gosh, I know just where you are talking about.. I can see it in my mind’s eye.
Now all I need to do is remember where the heck it was… aargh
Years ago, we went on a Group visit and had a marvellous time, plus I bought some nice china there.
EDIT: OH reckons it was actually at St Yrieix la Perche
Seems to resemble a Limoges porcelain maker who used to have a large stall on Figeac market during the summer months. They had a huge range of reasonably priced plain white plates and serving dishes, We bought a lot from them over the years and appreciated being able to replace breakages. Unfortunately they last appeared about three or four years ago so I suspect they have gone out of business, but hope I’m wrong.
Having looked up all on the list from Vero and seeing Stella’s photo I think it was probably MP Samie. I remember the blue on outside and it was large , 2 units.
So I will go for a drive around St Yrieux La Perche and surrounding areas.
Wish I had taken a photo as phone would have given me the location . It wasn’t near other shops it seemed quite remote and hence the landmark of huge pile of broken porcelain was their help to locate it!
Thank you all as ever always helpful on this forum
Just come across this topic so too late to advise.
St Yrieix was our home town for 18 years before passing the pottery pile in December for the last time following completion of our house sale with one of the towns notaires.
Some of Samie’s crockery has come with us and unlike the pile outside their factory, it is still in one piece.
We’re still based in France, for the time being, but I’ve been going backwards and forwards furnishing our future home in Chichester and getting to know the place. Loving it! But still incredibly attached to our beautiful part of France.
