Hello all!
Ok so we bought a property earlier this year, about 2 acres along with the house. The surrounding land (About 30 acres) is still owned by the same family who sold us the property.
On the day of signing I have mentioned to the owners I would like to buy more land from them about another 2 acres. But they told me the land is rented to a farmer. And they are in a 9 year contract. Is it true that these contracts are bulletproof and cannot be broken? The sellers told me that it’s hard to break this contract as the framer can pass this “rental” land to his sons who can then continue and renew it.
I have messaged the owner again and asked him if he doesn’t mind having a chat with the farmer to see if we can work something out.
Only other thing the owner said is for me buy the whole 30 acres and take on the tenant farmer.
Can anyone offer some advice please ![]()
