I’m sad to see someone here being talked about like this, even if we disagree with them and their beliefs very strongly. No-one was ever persauded to change their mind with this kind of treatment, rather it only reinforces that they are right and everyone else wrong.
As a noob here it doesn’t feel like I’ve yet earned the right to say this, but the forum will be a much nicer place if we’re polite and kind to each other.
They are her opinions, it does not make her mentally ill FFS, that’s the sort of thinking that would have gone down well in Germany in the 30’s and 40’s.
You don’t have to agree with her opinion, you can argue against it, you can try to change it but it does not make her mentally ill or to be banned from here, get a grip.
Everyone that suffers from a mental illness should receive support and understanding, not shunning. Helen has her views, I may not agree with her on certain topics but that does not give me, or anyone else, the right to stigmatize her.
No. From what I have read from Helene she is thoughtful and caring. There are many people who don’t have the analytical ability (or desire) to sort through the junk that floats around the internet.
Different opinions are part of democracy. And Helen adds a different viewpoint to discussions,
My only disagreement with Helene (which she knows) is that she raw feeds her dogs toavoid commercial pet food - but with factory farmed meat!
Indeed. A surprisingly high percentage of us will encounter some form of mental issue during our lives. For far too long these issues were not afforded the respect, understanding and focus by the health system that they deserved. It’s getting better but there is still a long way to go. A broken leg is easy to diagnose and treat, but just because mental issues are harder to diagnose and more complex to treat is no reason that they should not be addressed with as much urgency as a visible, physical issue.
Sadly, it’s still an uncomfortable subject for some, they don’t seem able to cope with these type of illness but to use it to belittle and insult someone because their views are different, is appalling.
You can’t call someone mentally ill just because they don’t have the same opinion as you do for goodness’ sake. Like many people here I don’t agree with Helen about vaccination at all, but that doesn’t entitle me - or anyone else - to cast aspersions on her mental health.
Generally I try to be friendly Jane and sometimes people shoot from the hip and words are used in unintended ways, which is why my response to the original post was what it was.
I would strongly advise you not to challenge my sincerity when it comes to mental health issues. Indeed, doing so is unacceptable in itself.
Oh dear I seem to have caused quite a kerfuffle in my absence and was almost “otherised” and carted off to some virtual mental asylum wearing my star
It’s actually a well known tactic accusing someone of “mental illness” because of a different point of view and a well known method of silencing political dissidents and there’s a plethora of “nudge units” and behavioural scientists out there…
Thankyou for everyone’s kind and graceful comments….
I can assure everyone that I’m as sane as the next man or woman but with that said I would never attempt to minimise the impact that life events have had on previous generations and the terrible toll the last couple of years particularly are having….I do worry about the children caught up in all of this and the impact it will have on them…
My mom had a nervous breakdown when my dad died…it was difficult to deal with (along with my own grief) and took 3 long years of her being under a psychiatrist and I attended many appts with her….she was unable to cry during those 3 years due I think to the anti psychotic drugs they put her on….(I could never understand their approach)
I like the shaman approach to anxiety and depression….
“When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?”
Helen I hope your “star” comment was not meant, but a weird sort of joke. I find it quite insulting to my family to minimise what they went through like that.
Not a joke as such…I’ve been listening to many Jewish leaders and holocaust survivors and people within the Jewish community who are speaking out against and absolutely do not agree with the way people are being divided and segregated by vaccination status
“Auswitzt didn’t suddenly fall from the sky….it was a slow creep…”
