Can anybody recommend a french ready meal?

Tins of cassoulet can be nice, but a bit heavy if you are not feeling up to it! There is always the pizza van too...

"Marie" - that's the brand of the paella and other frozen bits. Not tried the other stuff, but the paella is nice.

Tartiflette in tins or frozen. Try the deli counter at the supermarket, they have things like pre-made pasta dishes, hachis parmentier, endives wrapped in ham + cheese sauce etc

Soup cartons are pretty good too and loads of flavours to choose from.

Hope you're on the mend ;-)

We buy ready made Mushroom pies - which go down a treat when you're in a hurry!

Get yourself to your local Picard - http://www.picard.fr/

Most of their ready-meals are actually quite nice. There's a nice paella you can buy in the supermarkets too, frozen, just heat in a pan - the name escapes me, it's a white bag with red and black writing - maybe something Maison? Meh - I'll stick my head in the freezer and let you know. =)

Hi jane

Two of our basic quickies are riz cantonais and brandade, both frozen and the kids like both too. There are some pretty good frozen paella out there as well, an if you like pizza you're often spoilt for choice although they're nearly all à la française and not à l'italienne! And don't forget cassoulet in a tin!

bon appétit

Andrew

Bistro Chef are a company that supply frozen French ready meals throughout the UK. They’re delicious I particularly like the Confit Duck Leg and the Cassoulet Toulousain. https://bistrochef.co.uk/shop/

Welcome, @Susan_Beddoe
Your link looks very interesting for UK folk.

For France: I know several neighbours use this company
and are pleased with the products. Not used them myself

Toupargel (Place du Marché) has been excellent for frozen including readymeals and lots of other quality food delivered to home but is going bust this week.

Lots of lovely people there will be out of a job and many customers who depended on them for delivery of some quite good food will now be bereft. Such a waste of a good business.

We always have some “Marie” frozen packets in the freezer just in case I am too ill to cook, the only one we don’t like is the risotto au poulet which looks like wallpaper paste with chicken :yum: the rest are tasty, easily available quick and good value.

Thiriet deliver frozen things too. I haven’t tried made things but their plain vegetables and ices are very good.

A 500gm tray of aligot can be frozen and one just cuts off and gently reheats the necessary amount - It’s even better invalid food if one adds an egg. OH won’t touch aligot and I need to restrict my consumption so I divide a 500 gm tray into thirds, OTOH I’m sure there’s many around here, who’d consider a 500gm tray to be a single portion

What’s wrong with pizza? (pimped up with extra chorizo and frites)?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

THE French national dish. :smile::face_with_hand_over_mouth::nauseated_face:
