Hi, these were growing in a field locally. I wondered if they were being grown as a green manure? Does anyone know what they are? (No, sadly the 2€ piece is not growing there as well!)
I would think you might well be right about the green manure. I’ve never grown “field beans” but those certainly don’t look the right shape for any of the normal ones… 
I’m guessing soy beans. They’ve started growing them round here (47) in the last few years. Google soy bean and look at the pictures.
Soy beans seem to have 3 beans in every pod, so I would agree with Sue.
Soy would be good- I’ve just been reading about using them as a green manure after they go over with the frost
Look like soy beans to me. Fairly common in some parts of France.
