I am looking to find craft groups, keep fit classes, walking groups and cycling clubs in the Mayenne area. Can anyone help?
You always need to have a certificat medical to join a sports club but go along first and see if it's for you, with cyclinbg clubs you do a few rides first to see if the level's right.
for your local cycling club (and all associations) just ask at the mairie or look on their website. otherwise ask at your nearest bike shop. I ride with my local club, we have family weekends away, a winter training week in spain, organise races, some do the étape du tour, in short most clubs are very well organised and very friendly ;-)
bonne chance et bonne route !
PS you'll need to be fluent or have a good level of french - holding a conversation whilst out on a training ride at over 40 kmh is a good test!
For keep fit classes you should try Gymnastique Volontaire. They have groups all over France and it costs next to nothing to join. It's a great way to get to know people in your village and improve your French [if you need to]. I started doing keep fit with them nearly 20 years ago and it really helped with my French [and my figure after the birth of my second daughter]. I know it's hard to make the first step to join a club when you don't speak the language or you don't know anyone, but it is worth the effort.
Join the KNit knatter stitch and chatter group and post on there - also the Handmade group
