We've just bought a fridge, it's one of those double door American style ones, It would fit in the car on it's side which would be preferable to getting it on the trailer, will that damage it though?
Thanks
James

Can I transport a fridge on its side?
Yes, if the route home from the shop is downhill and you make sure you strap yourself on properly.
Just be very careful not to smack the box on the top as you load it.
The box contains the brain, otherwise known as the "control unit".
It's normally OK but leave it standing upright for 24 hours after transport to allow the refrigerant so settle before you plug it in.
