Our HC run from1.30pm to 4.30pm and 2.30am to 7.30am and that works out very well for us.
I won’t even go out of the house leaving the washer or tumble drier switched on (dogs left in the house) therefore I really feel uncomfortable having them working while I’m asleep upstairs. So, with just hot water switched on for 3 hours, it’s not worth it for me. I must work out using the figures provided how much extra it is costing on HP /HC. I really appreciate everyones comments and advice. Thank you.

If you are only using the water heater and no other major appliances at the night-time off-peak tariff then it is almost a 100% certainty that you would be better off on the ordinary tariff.
