Cardiologiste

That’s interesting, since yesterday that appointment date has gone.
However, there are 6 cardiologues shown and this one does seem to show it’s possible to make an appointment via Doctolib

Thank you Sue, I did get excited when I tried this Dr but when clicking on the only option (reason) the same message, Not available online, tres bizarre
I will go to the hospital tomorrow and try to see one of the secretaries or chat to our MT on Monday.

Personally, we’ve never had an issue with getting appointments for hospital, cardio, eyes, ears or anything else. Sometimes we’ve had a couple of months wait for the appointment, but never an issue actually getting one. Maybe we’re lucky here as we also never had issues signing up with an MT or dentist. We’ve used Doctolib in the past, but now we’ve had appointments with various places, a quick email always works.

Lucky you!!!

Indeed, I really do think we are lucky here as I know it can be very difficult in other areas of the country.

You have to persist with Doctolib. I logged on at lots of different times of day and grabbed a dermatalogue appointment on the site at 7am for three weeks later. Just as well, because she found something she didn’t like, gave me an appointment for an excision for biopsy the next day and has now sent me to CHU for a wider excision for a melanoma.

The other think we have learnt with doctolib is if you manage to get an appointment months away you can activate the alert setting and you gat an email if a slot opens up earlier. Which it fairly frequently does.

Glad you got that appointment. All the best.

You have hit the nail on the head. The answer is to live in the city. Here in Toulouse we are embarrassed for choice concerning cardiologues.

Living in a City you probably need more cardiologiste’s

I reckon we get the best of both worlds. Live in the country but access our excellent specialist care from the choice of three towns/cities within reach: Agen, Bordeaux and Toulouse

I had no problem finding a Dermo, but Cardio’s don’t seem to want to go online bookings, as said before, I have been trying since September 2023 We are happy to wait (fingers crossed) just like to know a date.
My MT will not use Doctolib and chose another online option, just dedicated to one practice.

So was I Lily, for my hearing test rdv, 6 months. Arranged for cover for Fran, drove the 50 kms to Perigueux only to be told by a stern faced woman that the man wasn’t there, he was on holiday, and in any case I didn’t have an appointment and furthermore ‘no you can’t make another one’.

Finally got one with someone else, for 12 months later.

Doctolib? Been there, done that, twice. Each time I accepted a rdv offered they gave it away while I was filling in their rotten form.

Oh I have been much too smug!!!
I see my cardiologist annually and in the past I’ve been lucky, I’ve been given an appointment card for the following year. Last summer I didn’t get one for 2024 so I’ve been in this morning to the cardiology department in Agen (raining, so a useful day for doing stuff).
I asked if she could give me an appointment for August or September. NO, the “planning” has not opened yet.
So how about my surgeon?
NO, his planning is also all greyed out.
So what is the last available date that is NOT greyed out?
There are no available dates, the calendar is fully booked for both of them to the end of June.
So when will July’s calendar be opened?
She has no idea.

Being all sweetness and light throughout this conversation got very difficult!

Agen is two hours round trip, so from now onwards I’m going to try to get an appointment by phone. So each Monday, I’ll be phoning to ask is July open yet? And take the first available date. I’m not an emergency, so no reason to ask for a cancelation. This is going to be fun! (Not)

I feel your pain @Lily

Not Mondays.

There will be a French equivalent to similar rule in the UK:

Monday is for recovering from the weekend, gritting oneself for the whole work week to come, dealing only with emergencies and just possibly getting time to take orders or sort out the shape of the rest of the week.

Tuesday after first coffee is a good time. So their opening time plus something between 5 minutes and 35 minutes. That way you’re early in their week so you’ve a chance of it being actioned this week but you’ve not really annoyed them by calling Monday if it’s not an emergenxy especially repeatedly.

In UK most of Tuesday morning was good up to 11.30 (hunger pains after that before lunch).

I have no idea what the French equivalent good times of the week are to get people’s attention snd wilingness, but I doubt it’s Monday and it’s sure as h*ll not Friday especially Friday afternoon.

I will also take a bet that there’s a typical “annual timetable” in medical and that they simply can’t or virtually won’t open week x or month x for anything that’s not an existing cycle until after a specific earlier point in the typical medical calendar is reached. Could be as simple as “aftet Easter” or “after x trimestrial planning meeting”.
Unless you know someone, possibly, of course, or someone medical under that same regime who could tell you what the normal cycle or window to book is. Just a guess.

Your cardiologue must be my one’s brother…. But at least I’m on the list to get on the list :joy:

Ahh carbohydrate dip, mostly through habit but drinks can get you through it, non sugary ones.

Always best to buck the trend for appointments, phoning when others can’t.

Ditto @SuePJ maybe this is a new thing :woman_shrugging:

@David_Spardo how / where did you manage to get the rdv
The Nephrologist only books one month in advance. I’m starting to get concerned for making a appointment in June!

Will find out tomorrow if I need an urgent /ish rdv, I’m more concerned my husband has missed his yearly post stent rdv.
On the positive side, my husbands sixteen weeks eye jabs have been booked until end of year
