Cars for export

Some times when I’m strolling around the cars for sale ads I see ads that says only for export do anyone now why they are selling them only for export?

Maybe they have some fault or other, haven’t been properly taxed or don’t conform in some way. Or are stolen. I imagine once abroad it is more hassle than it is worth to chase up the seller.

I think it is to do with TVA (VAT in UK).

Cars for export do not meet the European emission standards, but too good to be scrapped! Countries with less regulations like them as reliable transportation (east block or Africa)!

:grinning: You will have seen, as I did, absolute wrecks trundling up and down GT Road, Peshawar, with more hanging on the outside that seated inside, with signwriting still visible, "Guildford 3rd Scout Group’ or ‘Shepton Mallet Community Transport’.

One of the bertholders at my boatyard had a line in ocean-going vessels that had failed their marine MoT/CT. He sold them on to countries in South America, mostly.
