Carte Gris

Why on earth do they last for two years then? Yet another layer of unnecessary bureaucracy.

When we bought our car it had a current CT, and was within the first six month of the two years when we applied to get the CG transferred into our name and address.

We went to our nearest perific,in Alencon, which was 1 hr 20 mins away, with all the paperwork we were told we needed to then be given another form to take away and fill in.

We sent the paperwork off to the address given on the form a week later, and a cheque from a friend who has a french bank account.

Due to the fact that the cheque was in someone elses name it was returned, needing a photocopy of ours friends ID. Due to our friends health and being in hospital we were unable to get this, so a couple of weeks later we went back to Alencon with Euro's to get this sorted

We were told that the CT was now out of date( passed the six months)and would have to get a new one done to be able to get the new CG.

Another journey and 64euros we finally are able to have the paperwork signed off and paid for

The CT has to be within the first six month to be legal, to complete the CG change of ownership

Why is it weird & bureaucratic to have your car registered to you? Surely you sort that out before sorting out the CT?

;-)

Thanks Andrew

Its a second hand car

Just checked windscreen and noticed new vignette

Many thanks

the first CT needs doing at 4 years. The vignette on the windscreen is compulsory and gives the CT expiry date ;-)
