This is all very encouraging. I reckon - given our cat transacts most of his business outside - a bag of pellets might last a decade!
I suspect my cat Lucky will be needing litter which is dust-free to prevent any sneezing which could hinder his nose-healing. Anyone had experience of dust-free litter?
I’m off to the pet supermarket in town to see what they’ve got.
The best cat litter I found is from leclerc - own brand - 7litre bag. With 3 cats using the litter trays I’ve found this one the best. The photo shows a 10l bag but I get the 7l one.
Edit - having looked at the picture I think ours says it’s ultra absorbante not just tres absorbante
I read that some litter is made of tofu (which seems like a rea`lly good use of it) and is almost dust-free. Certainly the clay stuff (Catsan) I use is dusty, whether clumping or non-clumping.
My experience with wood pellets (just the ordinary stuff for stoves) suggested it’s far less dusty than clay, too.

Did a quick search online and Jardiland has their own brand of paper pellets - there’s a Jardiland locally so will go see.

We have been happy with the clumping stuff from Lidl, but it is not dust free. I might give the Leclerc stuff a try again. The family cat experts panned it but they are both gone now and me and Lyuba make our own decisions now.

My cat Lucky has peed and pooed outdoors most of his life, and uses the indoor tray arkwardly, and too energetically, and litter flies all over the place. Hopefully he will regain his outdoor habits once he’s free.

Cats are fussy about litter. I might buy a smaller size to test first.

He uses it, but far too energetically - it’s all over the place! My only beef is that it soaks up urine which you can’t extract like you can with clumping litter. I dump it with the household rubbish.

According to guide lines for cat litter trays I need one 67 cms long – 1.5 times the length from nose to base of tail. That makes it a piece of furniture!
My cat has peed and pooed outdoors all his life and never needed an indoor loo, so as soon as the vet says I can let him loose – will find out next week when his stitches are removed – he will resume relieving himself outdoors.
In the meanwhile, I’ll keep a brush & pan nearby. Good for the back and knees!

Getting rid of used clumping litter can be a problem – it’s very heavy. My wheely bin was rejected by the bin men once because of its weight.
