Hi Lindsay - it's a tax on all businesses - just more painful for those not making huge amounts of money. But you get an exoneration for the first three years. So if you started in 2009, this will be the first year you have to pay it.
We're in a small commune with no facilities to speak of but in a more expensive (for property) area than you. We don't have a pool - house is about 180 m sq with a barn and a hectare of land. Who knows how this stuff works...is way beyond me!
Interesting, our TF is 1470€, and we don't live in a mansion, have a swimming pool or even a second bathroom. We just live in a small town of 6000 hab with a high spending maire, who happens to be a big businessman in the town.
Being a Newbie, do you know why exactly this has to be paid??
