Chapeau Manu, the only G7 leader to take genocidal Israel on

Having fried my brain watching the Israeli genocide since October 8th, and being fully cognisant of how the October 7th atrocities were precipitated by Israeli, primarily Netanyahu and Likud, policies to support Hamas as a block to two state negotiations. It is with relief that I see aid, albeit still insufficient, start to flow.

Having studied this conflict sufficiently to be awarded a BA in it, if one was available, I have no doubt that Macron’s declaration of recognising the Palestinian State has resulted in the Israelis backing off from genocide max, to genocide medium.

They are scared shitless of a Palestinian State being recognised by G7 status countries and derailing their Gaza, West Bank and (aspirational) chunks of Lebanon, Jordan and Syria land grab. The “Greater Israel” as Netanyahu calls it, or Lebensraum as I do. This has caused even the fanatics (Ben-Givr, Smotrich et al) to pause

The BBC witters on about Israel having succumbed to International pressure. What pressure, apart from Spain, Norway, Ireland and now France?

Starmer, despite a potential Cabinet revolt, a letter from two hundred MPs and a manifesto promise of recognition still sits, as ever, on the fence. Friedrich Merz wrings his hands and just says “mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa” for the past, ignoring what is happening now. The Israelis must get a big kick out of that. I’ve no idea what Meloni thinks but, let’s face it, the old faciscm record ain’t too good chez eux.

Trump has his head up his bottom, denouncing whilefacilitating the genocide. Even calling Netanyahu “Bibi” today, as if he’s a pal, not a war criminal.

Canada seems to have lost it’s balls. Japan, no strangers to a spot of genocide themselves, are more focussed in selling Toyotas into the US than human rights or justice.

So, the only G7 leader with the courage to call it out like it is was Manu. Well done, I’m proud of you.

You’ve saved more Gazan lives than all the other G7 leaders put together.

BTW, for those that are interested the highly respected and very courageous Israeli human rights organisation B’tselem issued their report today, “Our Genocide”.

Edit: Also a 65 page report confirming genocid from the Physicians for Human Rights - Israel.

Both of these reports have had significant coverage in the media. The evidence mounts.

I’m sure if available, you’d merit ‘hons’.

Too kind Mark, and a long rest in convalescent home.

Reflecting on that, I remember reading that some students, in India I believe, even used to add BA (failed) to their names, because even getting to university in itself was such an achievement that it merited recognition. Given the challenges overcome, it’s a sentiment I cannot disagree with :slightly_smiling_face:

Spain has opened a war crimes case against netanyahu, hopefully the tide is turning (at last)

I’ve alway found in life there’s a tipping point Corona. Doesn’t matter what it is there’s a tipping point. The number of projects I’ve seen where everything was hunky-dory at every review and then, all of a sudden, it was an unrecoverable disaster (we always recovered of course :slightly_smiling_face:, but you know what I mean). In health, you’re bopping along and everything is fine until something tips, and you’re in crisis. So too in politics. I’ve noticed over the years that the appearance of maximum strength can be swiftly followed by defenestration.

I hope that happens to all the Israel right wingers, followed by unrelenting international pursuit until they end up in prison for life.

As an HoD in a post-Apartheid anglophone university, I was always staggered by what many Black students must have overcome to have passed their Matric and be eligible to apply for a university place. My university had multiple levels of entry, but only one level of exit. But inbetween provided abnormally high levels of academic support to historically disadvantaged students.

It wasn’t perfect, but how does one adequately redress a decade or more of poor education in just three or four years?

I am proud to have been the fulcrum in many a situation during my working life, probably made less friends but been true to myself. So many suckups blowing smoke up each other and me explaining why the Emperor was naked so yes I get the point. In this matter of course we have had 1000’s of lives so far more important. Lets hope for humanities sake we are at that tipping point.

Amen to that Corona.

Manu is the catalyst. Well done him.

Me too. I muted that moron pissing about on a golf course earlier today because he was a danger to my health with his disgusting comments about Palestinian kids ‘looking a bit hungry’, then turned on the news later only to hear the fiend saying the same thing again. The air here was blue and even Jules got up and went outside.

As if that wasn’t bad enough he then went on to say ‘of course we’ve been feeding them what we could and I see that the other countries are coming on board now’, totally ignoring the hundreds of deaths caused by the so-called US/Isreali, taking over of the relief system. My only wish for my life now is to live long enough to see that man, and his yahou mate, brought down one way or another, and I really don’t care how.

True, Trump and Biden are as culpable as Netanyahu for the slaughter. Trump now trying to infer he has some leadership role in getting the aid moving is despicable, like everything else about the man,

As an aside, the EU should have fought him on tariffs. Why should the EU invest in the US?

In total agreement and proud to be living here. Starmer has proved to be a big disappointment in so many ways but this is the most serious one. Mealy mouthed doesn’t cover it. There should be uproar in the parliamentary party at his sucking up to Trump and implicitly condoning the genocide. It would appear that we are still aiding Israel with spy planes.
I hope that disgust with Israel is growing and it’s not just too little, too late.

It’s a cop out, what’s wrong with right now?

I couldn’t agree more, on both counts :slightly_smiling_face:

September will do, with France. But yet again, it’s the grass roots showing the vacillating and amoral Mr. “sit on the fence” the correct course. He should resign.

He reminds me of the Groucho Marx joke, “Those are my principles, and if you don’t like them… well, I have others.”.

Macron has broken the logjam here, and none of the other cowardly leaders has given him one iota of praise, as they struggle to get on the righteous bandwagon.

Now Germany and Italy need to step up to the plate.

Too little too late… The State of Israel is culpable.

and BTW the UK and US wt al Jewish lobby groups.

I have been in Gaza for a period 3 weeks ago working for an International Aid Charity. This is my third visit and the difference in the country from my previous visit 6 months ago is deeply upsetting. Parts of the country look very much like old photos of Berlin at the end of WWII. Genocide is an international crime and it is disusting that the country committing the crime is the country to which Jews fled at the end of the war. However what is even worse are the number of countries still supporting genocide and those that have remained quiet are equally responsible.

Of course no-one condones what Hamas did but the extermination of a country and its people is unacceptable.

I appreciate your commitment and agree with your thoughts but am interested to know how you are able to apparently come and go in and out of the Gaza Strip when it seems to be firmly locked down by the Israelis. I have had these thoughts regarding the various surgeons etc. that appear on our screens from time to time.

Very surprised Survive France allows this antisemitic garbage to be posted-- what is this-- Twitter? Its one thing blaming Israel for their response to Oct.7 but to hold them responsible for that day is really pathetic.
