I noticed That If I select visitor on the “your Plans” dop down, & visitor in the purpose drop down, It goes through & at the end it presents me with a list of what I need etc, 3 months bank statements, proof of residency etc etc.
However, If I select Other & veteran in the relevant boxes, Im presented with a very much shorter list,
this is the only thing in the list
”Proof of veteranship (military book, discharge certificate or any document issued by the competent military authority).”
Am I reading it correct, If I can show past military service, I can bypass a lot of the requirements?…
meh It was a plan whist it lasted … I did think it was visitor/visitor was just going through the other options to see what difference was & noticed that one & thought… oh….maybe being in the army had some benefits
The good thing is, as long as you’re methodical, it’s fairly straightforward. I found it useful to check several sources of information for exactly what was needed - IIRC, the gouv website omitted mention of something crucial (maybe a photo, I can’t remember now), but I’d found whatever the omission was listed elsewhere.
And now with AI, you can pose the question to different not-necessarily-reliable sources of info!
I should just say that you’re doing what I did, asking lots of questions and, when the answers suggest further questions or gaps in your knowledge, following those up too, even if they’re not obviously relevant.
One thing you may not have thought of: if you import a car, you may have to pay a tax on its emissions.
yeh, Ive (only) got 18 months to get as many duck lined up as I can. So asking as many questions as possible.
hopefully get a couple of visits in this year to a couple or areas. see what its like. & if in budget.
Car wise, I dont think I would import my car, I`ll probably wait until in France & get one there.
