Currently happily installed with a coffee and cheesecake doing my marking. One of my students recommended I come here and I did last week for a couple of hours in the air-conditioning with great coffee. The experience made all the better by the lovely, warm American owner Joy, who really is a joy! She does gluten free cakes everyday (what a find for me with dh being GF!) as well as light lunches. Well worth a visit if you are around here. My hips are happy I live so far away ![]()

I envy you.
Looks lovely.
When our internet went down last Friday we decamped to our local McDonalds for the wi-fi. OH said coffee not great. Air conditioning OK. Thunderous music blasting out of loudspeakers from the ceiling - dire!
I’m glad you didn’t mention that delicious-looking cheesecake ![]()
One of my fave things and a huge thing in Oz. I think I’ve made 2 since I’ve been back here (11 years) so when Joy offered I wasn’t saying no ![]()

I hate that! Music here is soft and easy listening, I can even work!
@Mat_Davies haven’t you moved this way?
Had I known I could have met you for coffee this morning as I wasn’t at work and only 15 mins away.
Oh I didn’t realise you are that close! Late next week and early the following week I’m doing BAC supervision (Thursday and Friday then Monday to Wednesday) . If you are free any of those days let me know!
Funny how mention of some places brings resurrection of past memory. For several years my only association with the town was the cheap diesel I used to get when passing through, but then a new memory imprinted itself. A man I knew rescued a giant St. Bernard, errant in the area, but could not keep him even for one night. So we met at Perigueux and I brought him home. He wasn’t with us long but at night we were barred from one half of the house because he took to sleeping longways in the lone connecting doorway in the middle. At 1.5 metres long he was too big to jump over and too wide to step gently by.
But very cuddlesome.

Enjoy, next week, you two. Shame I’m not still on the road. ![]()
