Connections - Help!

I’ve taken to doing the Connections game on the NYT (same place as Wordle). The idea is to find the four groups of four linked words among a seemingly random group of 16 words. It’s frustrating because too often the association is an American one - TV programmes, American teams, etc.

I’ve got the first two lines today and my second line was a pure guess but I thought they had to be teams of some description.

I’m really struggling with the remaining eight words that will make up lines three and four. Suggestions anyone?

Paper, glue, glitter, macaroni

Arts and crafts

Golden goose, parachute (opposite of handshake), rod, doodle (dog?)

(Whoops didn’t see your reply in time John).

@JohnH @JaneJones Thank you both. I would never have got those. What’s macaroni got to do with arts and crafts???

It looks a bit like the "wall " in Only Connect but without the red herrings. I might have to give it a go…

It’s identical. Fortunately no time limit. Some days I get it easily but not today. I would never have thought of golden parachute (not my business world) and macaroni and “art” don’t go together for me. Some of the American stuff is hard work.

Unfortunately, some adults do too…

I do that every day and quite often find myself stabbing in letters that might fit, discovering a new word in the process.

I have been doing Connections for a while but I give up when it goes very American.
Have you tried “Letter boxed” ? Also from the NYT. It’s more of a word game without having to know much/any American culture.
