Allegedly, King George V’s last words were “Bugger Bognor”, after a courtier suggested he might like to go there to recuperate from his illness.

More plausibly, his physician wrote in his diary that his actual last words were “God damn you”.

post deleted.

I think perhaps the excessive heat is melting brains…

over and out

To be honest I prefer to read the local paper and find out whats what! For further afield, watch the national news daily and also read the National papers ocassionally.

Only mine. Sue’s is still intact!

Mike I think this is a silly question, it’s only a fiver a month. Not much more than a demi and less than a couple of hours in a decent carpark. Why don’t you speculate €15, subscribe for three months and just make your own mind up?

Everyone’s perspective of value will be (as you can see from above) different. None of them will be the same as yours.

I recommend thelocal . Excellent and picks up on issues quickly even if there isn’t an update they can give yet.

I agree, we bought their tax guide for our first return and it was invaluable. The first time filling in the return is always nail biting and it made it much easier. And we didn’t have to correct anything :+1::tada:

I find ‘France Insider’ worth the sub. I’ve seen comments of SF commending its authoritative content. Apart from ‘user reports’ here on SF it’s where I go for info about life in FR.

It still is, even the 3rd time now. I did buy their guide. I found it not much use. It seemed too general and very much for people far from my circumstances - couples and the tax affairs of being a deux, particularly.

The guide that was the ‘tablet handed down from the mountain top’ was by @graham. He made available his own tax return, with comments. His tax affairs were very straightforward and close enough to my own to make my first return go thru’ with no comeback from Impots.
