The Appeal against this “new” CT for 2/3/4 wheels (which previously were not included) has been turned down.
Interesting to note that 45% of the 123,043 vehicles checked between April 15 and May 29, 2024 had one or more faults (poor tyre condition, worn brake pads, etc.), of which more than 11% were serious and posed a safety risk.
As a motorcyclist I don’t have a problem with there being a “CT” for motorcycles - they are vehicles that travel on the public highway and need to be in safe condition.
The need is possibly greater than for cars as if a vital part fails you may get flung off down the road, whereas a car driver is somewhat protected by the bodywork.

Once “in the CT bracket” it’s every 3 years (which is less often than for cars…) apart from Selling of course… so the CT cost is not onerous.
No - the MOT is cheaper for bikes than for cars in the UK as well.
My bike failed due to the number plate being too small. Law was changed some years back and not even the bike shop mentioned it. Anyway despite the cost always better to be safe.

According to the FFMC the pass rate for motorcycles has been much higher than it is for cars.
