Cost of Taxi

Hi All,
First time we have had to use a Taxi and was surprised at the cost, from Cromac to Limoges Airport on Sunday afternoon a journey of around 70klms cost €259, had a quote over the phone but must of misheard as we thought it was €120 which was ok.
Anyone been surprised/shocked at the cost of a Taxi in France.

Taxi fares are massive! We only had to use one privately once when travelling home and our train was delayed so we missed the bus. And SNCF wouldn’t pay as a local bus connection. Have used them medically -returning from hospital - and it is eye watering.

But they are tightly controlled, so should be clear. Did you get a receipt with details? For example, did they have to come far to collect you as that can be charged for? There is a charge for reserving a taxi in advance, and then they can add waiting time if you don’t arrive as agreed. Also much more expensive at night and weekends.

Lots of wrinkles that can add up!

(Graham’s link seems to give the max night time price - legal day time price is €1.12) for

This table has 2,74/km as tarif D for one way trip nights Sundays and public hols for Dept 87. There is a massive hike up from tarif C for a one way journey daytime during the week. Plus booking fee, plus airport surcharge if there is one, might just about reach that. Taxis are expensive. That is probably why bla-bla-car got so popular.

I’ve heard quotes of €275 - €300 for taxis between Agen and Toulouse airport - one way daytime fares.

As there’s a meet and greet parking service at Toulouse airport that costs less than €10 a day and as we have a careworn old Renault which doesn’t have an unblemished panel on it; we’ve never bother with airport taxis.

Ive been looking into similar for us.
Carcassonne airport…we do the trip at least once a month.
we have our own car, and often get lifts from friends etc, although its very one way.
an annual car pass is €690 euros…
its the way we will go…
its €815 for an annual pass at toulouse - in P5, where you need to get a bus.
or €1,365 in P1, right at departures…

all for info…but us frontier workers have to work out the convenience V cost…
sometimes its just too much for friends to drop…

We use Geneva (used to be airport, now train station) and park in the free public car park in Gex and take the €2 bus. Adds 45 minutes to the journey but suits us.

I know Cromac. 120€ sounds about right. The higher fare doesn’t. Drochon by any chance? 120€ is often quoted as an example in conversation.
For comparison Gare d’austerlitz to T2 CDG 36km two days ago was 58€
Cromac to Bellegarde <70km?

Taxis have always been an eye watering price in France, never got to the bottom of the reason for it.
