UPDATE: Hi I have USA Costco account and want to use Costco Paris to order online but won’t let me. Do I need to go to Costco paris and do something at the store? So the issue is I cant use the Costco USA member number to create a Costco.fr account and need to walk into their warehouse and ask them and they can advise how to create Costco.fr account and fulfilment is Instacart
Good for you and not the foggiest idea! ![]()
Costco France doesn’t do online ordering, it’s in-store only.
Edit: I see from your post in the other thread that this has changed for locals to Paris so ignore me.
they do; both Costco and Instacart announced it.
I’m going to go out on a limb and speculate that the system can’t cope because you’re not a French member. Even though you can shop in countries other than your membership country, they don’t seem to be very joined up internationally.
Ah, you edited your post and already know this.
yes you are correct. USA Costo member number wont work as they have their own number
Is Costco in France any good ?
It’s pretty much like any other Costco though I don’t think that things like electricals are any cheaper. Spectacles are a good bit cheaper though.
about the same
I heard ages ago that they were expanding outside IdF. I see there’s now one in Mulhouse… would be nice if they opened up some a bit closer to me next.
Yes, something a bit SW would be nice. I was a fairly frequent visitor when living in Yvelines.
We live near Limoges and have a choice of Costco Paris and Costco Bilbao.
Either are a 5 hour drive. Membership at Costco Paris, but good for any country.
No deliveries though….
It was a lot easier when we lived in Yvelines…the trip from Orne is over 3 hours.
Cannot compare to the US however the basic model is global - make money on membership fee and then limited markup on goods. So in theory should be cheaper…of course the watchout is how much you spend in total…
Why not leave the USA behind and embrace the new country and produce it has?
What’s the difference between a Costco and a Promocash?
It’s more than just a cash and carry. It does have the usual food and drink, household products, toiletries, etc… that you’d find at places like Metro, but it has all sorts of other stuff like musical instruments or garden sheds or drones or a massage table.
It’s the sort of place where it you see something you want you have to buy it there and then. There’s no guarantee it’ll be stocked regularly.
The quality of their own brand stuff (Kirkland iirc) was ok. Had some amazing lobster tails once, but also had some very average stuff on many occasions. Fur branded stuff it was cheap but you are buying catering sized packs most of the time so need plenty of space to store, for example, 400 Andrex loo rolls.
The produce in Costco is local…Well in Spain it was haven’t been to a French Costco yet.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Costco, should I be sad? (Sheltered life, clearly).
We used to go to one in the UK and found it very useful, mostly for bulk buys of food and household stuff at good prices. They were good at things like cameras or watches as well, even car tyres. I imagine it’s changed quite a lot since we were there.
Is it a normal shop or one where you have to have a business or be an asso or the like?
