It’s not original though, it’s an old translators joke. Apparently at an international conference a French speaker used the phrase “la sagesse normande” and without thinking the English interpreter translated it as Norman wisdom. The other nationalities couldn’t understand why the English delegates suddenly cracked out laughlng.
