“Put their pants on one leg at a time”

Not sure if this is being funny or serious. A couple of years back I had to do a training course as a manager on employing and managing neurodivergent staff, at which point the reason became obvious for some of my characteristics that have required careful management over the years. As a kid I could look at a sheet of paper for hours, unable to start writing my homework etc. The upside is that, for example, I do more pattern recognition than is usual.
Some of us just have a gift
so which variety of neurodivergent is that? It sounds dreadfully familiar…
after “positive” test…
If and when one is allowed “out” after isolating… masks and distancing/gel etc for another 7 days is the norme…
Looks bad where I live
Per 100,000, really?
Just as many die of heart failure and cancers, diabetes and no one publishes those every week.
Like wise we are just seeing road deaths over the last two weeks, does is make drivers change their ways?
An interesting scientific discovery in the world of medicine, one long suspected but now proven not to be genetic drift, is that extensive social pandemics result in changes to human DNA.
For those who cannot peek over the paywall,
“ Many Europeans carry genetic mutations that protected their ancestors from the bubonic plague, scientists reported on Wednesday in the journal Nature.
When the Black Death struck Europe in 1348, the bacterial infection killed large swaths of people across the continent, driving the strongest pulse of natural selection yet measured in humans, the new study found.
It turns out that certain genetic variants made people far more likely to survive the plague. But this protection came with a price: People who inherit the plague-resistant mutations run a higher risk of immune disorders such as Crohn’s disease.
“These are the unfortunate side effects of long-term selection for protection,” said Hendrik Poinar, a geneticist at McMaster University in Canada and an author of the new study.”
OK, so there’s a small downside. There usually is.
However, makes me wonder, how will the human race have been physically changed by Covid-19. And what will be the downside…
This has been widely reported, no no need to go to Nytimes.
Evolution works, who’d have thought
Charles Darwin?
Just found my grippe vaccination invitation from the CPAM in my post box.
Incidentally, I’ve noticed a lack of updated-figures in the French Press which I read…
However, today I discovered that an acquaintance has died from covid, in hospital this very morning…
and according to the mobile-shop owner… there are many, many people who are decidedly ill with covid… she has been alerted by families/customers
now, which covid… we don’t know… but from the families concerned … much of it is NOT the light-covid…
Anyway… she’s wearing her mask and we’re busy locating our masks and preparing the sheep-dip…

Any restrictions back in force yet?
I’ve been watching… no orders… but, of course, masks in closed environments, distancing and hygiene… have been strongly suggested for a while…
I’ll zap stuff in here as soon as I find it…
people need to get jabbed… been too complacent… is the opinion.
Well, I’ve had my jab, no complacency here.
Going to the pharmacy tomorrow with the grippe paperwork so will ask about 4th covid jab which I have put off until now because there has been no mention to speak of on the news about infections etc. It made my two year old grandson a right grumpy little bugger without a doubt, obviously one of the side effects for tinies plus he has taken to helping himself to my tomatoes and wanting them washed too.
I’ve been reporting figures etc higher up in this thread…
but in case anyone else has missed it…
The French Govt wants folk to get up todate with their Covid jabs… please!!
