Darty fitted kitchens

Has anyone any experience of using Darty to supply and fit a kitchen? Madame found them online and is considering getting a quotation.

We had an a RDV for a planning session. The advisor tried to do everything as quickly as possible and got really pissed off when we said we wanted to think about it. We never went back of course.

We had a look, but the design and quality didn’t seem up to IKEA standards, let alone something ā€˜nice’.

Personally, my oatmeal pal, based on forty years experience, I wouldn’t trust Darty to fit a plug on a kettle.

The friendliness of their staff has improved over the years (unlike FNAC who must run in-house rudeness courses) and for a one off electrical purchase they are fine. Though always check online that you are not being ripped off. We ordered a new TV from them about eighteen months ago and then accidentally discovered the same TV on the manufacture’s website for considerably less with a soundbar thrown in (not that I needed or wanted a ā€œsound barā€, but not looking a freebie in the face) I cancelled the Darty order, even though they offered to match the deal. Fool me once… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

But they won’t be fitting anything anyway, it’ll be some subcontractor. It’ll be a lottery whether they are any good or not and if not I’d assume Darty will wash their hands of it. It’ll be your problem. Then what will Madame Porridge think :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I think most kitchens at various price points are good these days. It’s the quality of the installer that really counts.

My opinion of them just in supplying electromenager alone went downhill a good ten years ago. I recently had to replace my PC so decided to go over to the dark side and go for the latest MiniMac but the salesperson in Darty was more interested in pushing other makes, got one in the end from Boulanger who bent over backwards to help. My kitchen came from LeroyMerlin who designed what our rough sketch gave and I am very pleased indeed and even got a special big sized island worktop with rounded edges to protect the little ones’ heads. My son and I did the building and fitting and even with glass units and very wide self closing doors it went very smoothly. If I had not had to go over the new building costs, I would have got a local artisan to do it.

My only experience of Darty is when they boasted about delivery of something I was enquiring about, until they asked me where I lived, and then said no. Apparently 50 kms away is too far.

If you order from them online, they do not take old appliances away which really caused me problems in the old house until I could get the local agglomeration to do it on their monthly collection

They legally have to take the old one away when they deliver a new one, for some categories of items. I think it includes beds sofss armchairs major household appliances like fridges ovens as well as other types of items if you’re purchssing a new one.

I suspect IKEA got done for not doing it in past year or two. As about a year ago they put up a not-too-overpromoted notice on their website to inform them at the time of a purchase (and not later) if there was an old item to be picked up and taken away that the new one waa a replacement for remiding that it must be an item of the same type.

So if you’re replacing an item make sure you do this at the time you purchase and make sure you keep proof of your request, its time and date and it’s having been clearly linked to your new item purchase. It’s free of charge as well to anyone buying a new item in the various categories the law covers I think

There’ll be info online and it would be on Que Choisir and 60 Millions info as well.

I had a washer and drier installed by them no issues as well as a large refidgerator. I am not sure I’d trust who they pick for a whole kitchen thou.
