Deadly, or What?

For some time now, certainly since my heart attack last year when I was urged to eat more fruit, I have been buying large oranges and keeping them in a plastic box I found somewhere in Fran’s bedroom, I think.

I noticed a small tube in the bottom but kept putting off studying it closely. Today I did. It has an orange plastic cap over a plunger and, at the other end, a slim plastic cover over a deadly looking spike. the tube between them is graded from 10 to 50 and on the back it says U 100 Insulin 0.5ml.

I suppose it ought to go to the pharmacy but what on earth is such a thing doing in our house? Could it have been dropped by a careless nurse during the year or more that Fran was constantly visited?

must confess I would not call any of the Nurses/Carers “careless”. we know many of both sorts and they are always very professional.

but yes, I’d take it to the pharmacy for disposal.

Any diabetic visitors recently?

My experience of registered nurses here and in the UK are very careful not to leave anything behind that isn’t prescribed to the person they’re visiting.

Especially sharps! For safety, put it in an old screw-top Coke bottle and try taking to your local pharmacy or hospital.

Quick off the mark Jon, with good advice, welcome. :smiley:And to all yes, pharmacie tomorrow. The sharp bit already has a secure plastic cap but I will be careful.
I can’t remember what was originally in the box so it may not have been a nurse, and yes, they always were careful. But somebody wasn’t, either here or beforehand.
