Decent alternatives to EDF

I am seeking views on people’s alternatives to EDF. They are ‘doing my head in’. I can use a comparison website, but real experience seems better. Thanks, Wilf xx.

We’re happy so far with Sorégies.

Thank you, I shall look them up.

We are happy with Mint

Octopus seem good value and give frequent clear communications by email.

Off topic but not, when I was back at home in Brighton recently I got to try the vast inflatable slide that Octopus have in the reception area of their office. Any company that provides a slide for their staff to get home quicker at the end of the working day can’t be too bad, surely? :joy:

Ekwateur.

LaBelleEnergie. I’ve only had them 4 months but no complaints. The switchover from EDF was painless. Fixed rate for 1, 2 or 3 years.

Me too. In fact I have had the finger wagged at me on this forum for going on about EDF and the Red Days. I’m pleased to find a fellow sufferer.

As far as I can see, tomorrow is the last of the 22 days thay are allowed in this 12 month.

Good riddance. The washing machine has been on standby since Weds, waiting for Friday’s J.R. to be gone.

I’m always a bit suspicious of companies providing a service which is based on under-cutting the ex-State monopoly: comms v Orange aka FR Telecom ?], electric v EDF. I recall @toryroo having a bit of a 'mare re Mint, prices zooming up from an originally atttractive opener.

Thanks to the people who have put fwd alternatives

Tomorrow, 31/01/2025, is the 21st RED this season. There will be one more.

That’ll be Monday then.

And it was. God riddance, in spades.

Me too but glad to report we have had no problems

I am, too. But I haven’t heard of any dire reports of people having their power cut off. Sure, there can be billing problems and the like, but the price differential (especially for me who is all electric) is worth the gamble and since it is just as easy to switch back, I took a chance on LaBellEnergie, which has been fine, so far.

Well here is one, our gardener turned up and reported the outside meter cupboard was left open and meter removed, thanks EDF, no notification whatsoever. They made such a big deal out of wanting to reconnect at a time that suited just themselves with no appology for disconnnection. Seems they had lost all our account information dating back 10+y. Mint on the other hand agreed a suitable date with the next visit of our gardener and all was carried out at that appointment.

Coming round to that p.o.v. Ekwateur comes up well on a comparison site.

Was that recent Corona? I’d be tempted to send them a DSAR - there is s French equivalent right - as I simply don’t believe that about tbem losing your records. More likely tbey boobed and are covering it up However a DSAR has a good chance of getting the records.

Btw if in a winter month wondering if they also breached the trêve hivernale by cutting you off and leaving you without power.

A while back, probably 7y now but we let them off.

I totally get your frustration, Wilf. I switched from EDF a while back and went with Octopus Energy. I’ve been pretty happy with them – their customer service has been really helpful whenever I’ve had a question, and their rates seem reasonable. They’ve also got a good range of green energy plans if that’s something you’re after. I know comparison sites can help, but sometimes it’s worth hearing someone’s experience.

As they are probably the most progressive energy supplier well worth a look at what Octopus could offer, we are with them in the UK so nice to know they are doing similar in France.

Be interesting to do comparisons on a kWh / abonnement et prices paid over a year & suppliers.
I’m with EDF here’s mine. Tempo tarif.
