Dechetterie chef-boutonne not open this week?

Hi anybody know why dechetterie in chef is not open this week?

My OH thought our dĂ©chetterie was closed recently but they’d gone to summer hours and were closing earlier. Have you checked the mairie website?

Hi jennifer11 I went at the right times both days 11 am yesterday and 3 pm today within the times on the board thats 9 till 12 mornings and 2 till 5 afternoons

Ignore the boards, as suggested check your Marie’s website:

Du lundi au samedi de 7h Ă  13h

Doesn’t explain yesterday’s closure though ! :rofl:

In the heat ours changed from normal hours to 07:00 - 14:00

I have a funny story about a dechetterie, brought about by French inflexibility..

I had two frying pans to throw away, been in my car for months. I decided I just had time to visit a local dechetterie on one of my monthly trips to the UK.

Dechet closes at 3pm, i was there at 2.50 but the gates were pushed so that you could only walk through and not drive. This is in the remote and wild NiĂšvre region and a dechet with a beautiful view!

I walked through with the pans towards a young lad who was near the bins, I asked if I could throw them in.. he gestured towards a little brick office next to us and said I should ask in there. Ok, whatever I thought. In I went , said bonjour to the lady seated at a desk with her back to me and asked if I could throw the pans away. She turned and said Non.. blah blah something I couldnt understand. I pointed to my watch and said its not 3 yet.. she said something else that I should come back another day. I thanked her and walked out. There was a wall opposite and I put the pans onto it.. bid the lad bonne journée and walked back towards the gate.

Just as I got there I heard a scream behind me.. ‘moooonsieuur’. I didnt turn, she screamed again, really the loudest scream she could muster. I didnt flinch or change my walking pace, got two my car three seconds later, jumped in and calmly drove away. I still didnt look back.

After that I had to find another dechettterie for my waste!

I did get told off for trying to put a sink in general rubbish rather than building rubble. Or it might have been vice versa, I don’t recall.

Our déchÚterie is really helpful, even helping unload items from the car and directing where to put things. My one complaint is that they have stopped supplying compost.

Ours too. They are sort of “rubbish enthusiasts”, very helpful.

A (French) guy at our dĂ©chetterie speaks English with a Danish accent. There’s a story there. Lovely guy too, great dry sense of humour.

I heard him telling someone off yesterday. It was their 3rd visit of the day with the same kind of rubbish (looked like window frames) They couldn’t visit again until tomorrow.

It’s noticeable that the guys at ours don’t help unload. I suspect they’re not supposed to, French equivalent of health and safety maybe. They tidy up generally, picking fallen stuff up or taking stuff out of bins to put it in another - but it’s obvious they are deliberately not helping people unload.

Sometimes we need to curb the enthusiasm of the dĂ©chetterie staff or they’d be having our waste containers in the bin too.
