Definitive statement of speed limits in the dordogne?

Good jokes don’t need an emoji.

Beg to differ, there are roads local to me that are set at 21mph with cameras. By your theory I would not have received a ticket for 24 in a 20 area. However, you may mean that above 10%+2 you do not get the option for a speed awareness course but will appear before a magistrate?

You’ll find all the camera locations in France on www.radars-auto.com under ‘emplacement des radars’ in the left column.

Not the mobile ones though, surely?
And of course you can be done for speeding by discreetly parked gendarmes who don’t actually stop you on the spot.

That is correct, however if the radar is mobile, so being flashed by a camera in a car for example, there is a tolerance of 10kph.

When I say mobile radar, I mean the ones they drag about from place to place and leave in situ for a certain time, I didn’t mean the radar embarqué in moving police/gendarmerie vehicles.

No, this isn’t the case it is 80 in both directions, other than the areas with overtaking lames / double, which are 90.

There are a few cameras periodically in both directions between Campsegret and Grun Bordas.

My understanding for here (24) is that the RNs all have to be 80 under nation law still but the D’s can be decided by the préfet ,with certain rules like lane width, paint ect. Example being Bergerac to Mussisan, it is a D road and a 90km/ hour zone.

That’s what I thought but lookee here

So the bits that are 90 aren’t if going south?

Has anyone driven through Perigueux centre lately… one stretch of road has 30kph going in one direction, while oncoming traffic is allowed 50kph…
So when we’re doing the “round-trip” (ie both ways) OH certainly has to keep his wits about him…

Is that first one not the first section on the ring road bit? And if yes it is double lane coming off the round about so 90. Otherwise im just confused

Very confusing!!! What does the next bit say about Douville? That is very close to me!!

I’m totally confused  I thought it was the bit where there’s the 45th parallel sign. I used to do Bergerac to Périgueux and back every day for work but I didn’t get any tickets :innocent:

I realise that, those kind or radars (the ones that you describe) are known to the French as ‘radar de chantier’.

I will also add that the ones in cars are not limited to gendarmerie/police, there are a number of private operators flashing as well!

Oh no never noticed that and I’m on there regularly! Where is it?

I only noticed that the other week and can’t remember where it was

I just call them radars autonomes :slightly_smiling_face: (I’m a French person).

Going from Auchan through to Leclerc, via the “river road” by the Stade, then turn towards the town centre… near Saint Georges… and it’s there… somewhere…
It’s a section which I will seek to identify more thoroughly next time…

Eek I’ve done that so many times this week as it between work and the studio my son is getting !!!

That is another description, but the French driving forums that I use, the radar de chantier is more commonly used.

I think it’s all part of their desire to slow motor traffic and give priority to bike/footfall in the centre… we used to be able to drive there with “our eyes closed” (only joking…) but now we have to be really alert… which is no bad thing…

Yes, it includes those that are moved from place to place on rotation (radar de autonome et déplaçable) and is updated regularly.
