Devis Decennale Death!

Here is the decennale, again listing exactly what is covered on the annex.

OK here is the Multi risk insurance plus annex. Note it is for Menuiser Bois but Charpente is excluded- we have done this deliberately as it is very expensive to insure. Additionally my husband is insured for tiling. Very important is the annexe which lists what is covered by menuiserie and any additional work.

Many thanks Tracy, yes that would help. I am trying to get one for the pool industry as a previous pool builder is now sadly ill so we must find a policy in order to work in france I believe, although my company is UK based.

Slightly different to your husbands need to show professional certificates as the people in the pool industry generally know less than me, certainly about the water and water systems although they may know more about laying concrete blocks in a straight line!

Sue, sorry for the slight hijack of your thread but I am sure other posters will get the benefit as Tracy said of seeing the document

I was just bumping the thread backup really but it is frustrating that it seems a great mystery to get hold off and some posters do have a go on forums but not necessarily on this one.

Sue,

Here is the info that should be on a devis:-

http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/professionnels-entreprises/F31144.xhtml no mention of language though. I would think that it is more important that the client understands what he is signing though to be honest. We do devis in French for French clients and in English for English speaking clients.

Here is the info that should be on a facture - in French! Ooops!

All insurances are paid monthly, if the builder stops paying it of course he wont be insured but I think that is taking worrying too far. The best thing to do is ask for a photocopy of the attestation and then call the insurer yourself to check it is current.

John, are you trying to find a tradesman with a decennale or trying to obtain one yourself? It is very difficult to obtain my husband had to show all his professional certificates and obtain attestions from his former employers to prove that he had worked as a carpenter, not just had the certificates.

I'll try and post a copy so people can see what a real one looks like.

Aw come on John! I care. I just don't know the answer. As an ex. contractor I've been there & appreciate your frustration but really, why have a go at us just 'cos we don't know about something you admit doesn't seem to exist? :-)

It doesn't look like anyone cares Sue, They do when it's time to stick the knife into a tradesman though. Write a complaint on a forum and they come out of the wood work to stick the knife into em.

I have been trying to find a decennale insurance policy and despite talking to others it appears to be a myth although you must have it to work in France actually getting hold of it, well that's a different matter. Pools don't require it I was told only buildings because they can collapse but not having it is serious.

I know that doesn't help you Sue but a discussion from other members would be most welcome.
