DFDS messaged and between June 9 and June 14, 23.00 hours Newhaven departures will not arrive until 08.00 in the morning. Having contacted them, they have said this is down to work on the quayside at Dieppe meaning boats cannot dock until 8am.
The lovely people at DFDS have allowed us to re book our crossing so we arrive at 5am a day earlier than previous booking. The pets are now only couped up for 4.5 hours.

I would have rejoiced in the knowledge that I always booked the very best double bed cabin, the Commodore, and slept an extra hour or so.
So would we but the pets would be crossing there legs or worse. Sshh we did get an upgrade on the cabin as the low cost ones had all gone so call me Commodore
Good timing by Dieppe port, I am arriving on Monday 16th June at the usual godawful time of 5am!
I am too tight to pay £93 for a cabin for four hours knowing I would probably not sleep well anyway, so I will be lurking in a reclining seat with my noise-cancelling headphones on.

Phew that was close, we leave the evening before from Dieppe
they are back to locking the kids area which is a shame as its the most comfortable place but the banquette seating is wider now so sleeping there is good. Always with a blackout eye mask and ear plugs. Of course this time on the Newhaven leg we have a Commodore cabin, did I mention that
Yes Rear-Admiral I believe you did.
Where is the Commodore sleeping, bunked up with the ratings?
Yes, with Roger the cabin boy.

I wonder if, during Covid, the port of Dieppe had to get special dispensations for quay workers…
Ah, you must be going on DFDS’ new flagship, the Cochon Noir…

Following up on this, yesterday I could see work was going on, but we had no trouble in Dieppe. However something to beware is that lots of roads around Brighton including a section of the A23 were shut last night. If you’re coming from Newhaven late at night, it makes for a deeply frustrating experience. Don’t rely on satnav, but choose an alternative route the old fashioned way.
Just to add a little spice to the situation, I ate a sandwich in the services north of Paris that did some unfortunate things, and having a 3 hour drive was not completely ideal.
What time was your Dieppe crossing AM?
5.30 pm departure. The boat was about 1/3 full and we left at 5.15
Cool, its the same time crossing we are using. The overnight works were going to delay the incoming docking from 9th so we changed the booking to the 8th.
