Dishwasher brands

Morning, this is my first post. We need to replace our Bosch dishwasher and are looking at buying a cheaper brand this time and making sure we have warranty. Does anyone have anything to say about the brand named Comfee or perhaps can recommend any other cheaper makes? Thanks and bonne journée

Comfee is part of the Chinese Midea group, so quality will be the same as Proline and the other Chinese appliances sold by Darty etc.

That said, my experience of Chinese appliances is that they’ll outlast their factory warranty by at least a couple of years if looked after.

That has been our experience as well, we have had proline and valberg products for many years without problems.

Our old microwave broke recently… well, part of the door broke to be precise. I could possibly have fixed it but we bought a new one instead. We picked up a Proline one cheap from Darty. I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by it. The only complaint I have is that the lamp inside is not bright enough to really see how the food is cooking… but it’s a minor issue really.

It’s made me think twice about whether I’d buy the brand again for something bigger and more expensive, rather than the more well known big brands. I’m much more inclined to do so now than I was previously.

We have bought the Valberg brand from Electro depot for years without any problems and have been surprised by the quality and functionality.

Can it not be repaired ? Most can. We’ve had really good experiences with Bosch dishwashers, and other Bosch products. Our Bosch built in dishwasher in the UK was 17 years old when we sold the house and it only needed a new filter in all that time. Our current Bosch dishwasher in France is 5 years old and we expect it to last much longer.

Believe me we’ve tried. My husband can normally mend most electrical things but this hasn’t quite defeated him, it’s more a question of how much more do we spend on bits before reaching the price of a new cheaper model. Bosch have said it’s only one of two things and we’ve done one of them but the other will cost about 220€ so you can see how we’re fixed. Would prefer to repair or have it repaired if possible but struggling to find an engineer.

The comments are all helpful - thanks everyone

:astonished: I can see why you’re reluctant to fix it.

We still have a Beko (Turkish?) dishwasher we brought over from London that’s been running like a champ for almost 15 years.

My top tip is cleaning the filter weekly.

Yes, I’ve heard that’s a decent brand. Thanks for the tip.

I bought the cheapest Proline dishwasher when I moved to France 2004 . Replaced it last year with the current cheapest Proline one again from Darty.

We have a Beko, it’s proved to be efficient and quiet. I will never go to Whirlpool or any of their group appliances again after a terrible experience with a Whirlpool washing machine and not existant SAV.

Arcelik are better known in the UK as Beko, Grundig, Flavel, Leisure and Blomberg to consumers in stores. The two are forming a new company in which Whirlpool has a 25% stake, the remainder is under control of Arcelik.

Now go and make a few smiles out of a company called Arce lik :joy:

We have a Seimens and it is great. Bought in very good condition from LBC at least 5 years ago.

We decided when we arrived back here nearly 9 years ago with a teen, a 9 year old and a baby in nappies as well as major renovations to just order a cheap 8 kg. I think it was Oceane or something. We went and collected from a pick up depot. Got home and discovered we’d actually been delivered a LG 8 kg with dryer! No one ever said anything so we just figured they were out of what we ordered! It is still going now, 8.5 years and a hard life, with hard water. The pump makes a racket and needs replacing. We bought the same on LBC but the 9 kg to put in our eventual gite. Due to the pump not being priority we put the 9kg in the new laundry in the summer. It is not in as good condition but I won’t go back even with the new pump as the difference between the 8kg and 9kg is huge!
