Doctor forced by the Health Ministry to change my medication

@Yorky1
I have sent you a Private Message. When you reply on that, it will be just between us two and NOT the world at large… :+1:

You know I didn’t land well after my last “leap”…, but I’m mending gradually.

I don’t ‘like’ I hugely sympathise. So horrible feeling and being so vulnerable.

At 400 mg would you say that your asthma is not sufficiently controlled? This sounds like a silly question given what you have said. If so, you could qualify for Dupixent, the biologic mentioned above, that is reserved for severe asthma insufficiently controlled by steroids (I sound like a US drug ad!)

Maybe you have already had that conservation with your specialist ?

I will have to make an appointment to see my specialist.
I can’t get to see my MT until the 4th January.
I am not particularly pleased with my specialist as she is supposed to be monitoring me for the nodules, but is not.
I am not pleased with what is happening in Cluny and Macon at the moment.
The recorded message at the MT asks us to be understanding as they have a shortage of doctors at the moment.
Not encouraging, especially as it is this time of year when I have most problems.

Ah yes the “Merci de votre compréhension” message ?

My informal French into English dictionary, which I’m developing as I learn things, says a frequent more apt translation of “Merci de votre compréhension” can be “Thanks for your understanding. If you don’t like it, tough”

That is a much more polite interpretation than mine!

qui sont insuffisamment contrôlés par des corticostéroïdes inhalés à dose élevée associés à un autre traitement de fond de l’asthme.

Your asthma also needs to be associated with raised eosinophil counts in the blood and/or elevated Nitrogen monoxide.

Are there any other specialists in your area that you can try?

I spoke to the secretariat at my specialist yesterday and they were very kind and understanding and immediately recognised my problem.
I will make an appointment to see her but the secretariat are asking her to send me a prescription for the extra 200 which she initially prescribed.
Iwill ask for a review of my treatment.
Thanks for your interest and help.

I have received my prescription for six months. The secretary at the hospital asked me if I would like my specialist to speak to my MT, but I thought not as I have to get on with her as much as possible. It is almost impossible to change your MT and you are lucky to have one at all.
I am much relieved and can look forward to Christ mas without worrying that I will not be able to control my asthma.

I saw my specialist today and asked about my esonophil level, which, apparently, was already high from the last test they had done.
My lung capacity was down by 10% too today and when I asked about alternative treatment she said that my asthma was severe enough to qualify for this specialist treatment.
She has prescribed something
which she thinks will be best for me and also steroids if I get really down.
I am delighted as I think that now it will be up to me much more to help myself day to day.
I am having my first blood test before the new treatment tomorrow morning and I have the prescription which I will order from the pharmacy tomorrow.
I have to have the first three injections in hospital to see if I have any adverse reactions!
A huge thank you to all of you who have taken the trouble to contribute to my post and, fingers crossed, there will be a much better outcome for me.
This is really what SF is about, so a huge thank you to Cat and James too.!

I discovered today that my MT has not applied for ALD for my Carte Viyale to cover my asthma.
I am speaking to the hospital this afternoon.

Oh no how infuriating, useless person :rage::rage::rage:

Presumably a renewal? I don’t think MT!s are informed automatically when ALDs run out. Or maybe since your treatment is from a specialist hasn’t realised and many people with asthma don’t qualify for ALD as not serious enough.

I didn’t know that they even did when serious, nobody mentioned the possibility when I very nearly died one night. Fortunately my asthma is largely under control so I am not intending to change status on that score.

The ALD status is for chronic diseases that require prolonged and costly treatment. So just having asthma is not enough, nor if it is controlled with standard inhalers. Needs to be severe. Recently I have heard tell of renewals being refused because the person only needed minimal treatment. And for myself I know that it is the cost of the treatment and regularity of needing interventions that tips the balance.

Quite right too, my 2 near death experiences were 50 years apart and, despite the constant reminders that it is still there (though I try to ignore it as I believe it is psychosomatic) I have never needed the inhaler that I was provided with.

That makes sense, thank you Jane.
My specialist has always put ALD in any prescriptions she has given me, so she must have thought that my condition was severe enough, but my MT has not taken this up and applied it to my Carte Vitale.
I am taking copies of my latest prescription into the surgery on Monday and will leave my card for her to up date. As she previously refused to implement my specialist’s prescription, which she said was too much, it will be interesting to see what happens this time.

It is not the doctor that applies it to your carte vitale, but they certify to the seçu that it should be applied (it used to be a form, but I think now they just go on line and do it). If your MT won’t do it then your specialist can as well.

This is the form, which my MT did. Some ALDs have no end date, but most do now, so when I needed it renewing this time she did it on line. I had to tell her as she hadn’t kept a record, but I knew from my Ameli account when it expired

Apparently not, as I rang the hospital yesterday and they said that it is only the MT that can do it.
After speaking to the secretariat at my MT’s surgery, I will take my CV in and she will make the application and apparently it is quite quick.
