During these difficult times I find dogs to cheer

I don’t so report as much as you like David.

Well, we shall see won’t we, a week tomorrow is the day when he officially goes to Sharon’s pension.

@Motherrobyn You will have to explain that for me, is it a common phrase in Oregon or is my understanding of it correct? Taking it at face value, no, no official system or organisation, I simply transport, and in this case foster for a week, a dog rescued by the association I have worked with for many years, to find him a new home.

@Rachel05 Took me a while to work that out too, perhaps a comma after ā€˜I don’t’ might have helped. Not being critical just that I spent some time thinking you don’t report as often as me with perhaps a comma after ā€˜like’. Try it and you will see what I mean. :joy: I really am not being picky, I really did puzzle over it for a while. But taking it as I now think you meant, I thank you for it.

Anyway, acedemic for the time being because I have done another video, this time of our 3rd walk which, I think you might agree, might well mean that he is entirely unemcumbered with the long line tomorrow. :joy: No need to watch it all, I think the point is made early on and I haven’t done any editing.

Love it, especially as several of those breeds are said to be dangerous, there are mad dogs (rarely) just as there are mad humans (less rarely sadly), but it has nothing to do with breed.

Having read in another post all about commas and how they can change the meaning of a sentence, you are absolutely correct David. There should have been a comma after ā€˜don’t’ but I’m having a ā€˜grey-haired version of a dumb blonde’ day today!

You wouldn’t believe all the stupid things I’ve done - I poured a kettle of water into the coffee jar instead of the cup, I added salt instead of sugar to the bramley apples I’ve made ready for a crumble and I lost the drying up cloth only to find it in the freezer. And the night is still young - what else can go wrong??

Happens to us all, last night I simply walked from the living room to the kitchen. For reasons best known to the firm that built the extension there is a step up to an existing building, which is lower on the slope. . But I know it well after 25 years but this time lifted my foot just 1 cm too low and stubbed my toe hard on the step. Hardly had the protest left my mouth than I was thrown off balance fiercely against the door post. Only 10 minutes later still nursing 2 very painful places I noticed that on my arm there was a massive hard swelling almost as big as a golf ball. It had reduced by bedtime but the crimson bruises, ever present on my hands and arms, are begining to unite.

Copied from kinship.com:

So, what exactly is the cat distribution system? Unfortunately, it’s not an organized group where you can sign up to receive the perfect cat just for you. Instead, the phrase is how TikTok users — and now individuals across social media — describe the often random ways that cats enter our lives. Basically, the universal cat distribution system meaning can be boiled down to this: People don’t choose their cats, cats choose their people.

When a stray cat or kitten walks up to a complete stranger meowing and demanding attention, and that person takes the stray home, that is the cat distribution system in action. You could be on a casual walk at your local park, loading groceries into your car, or strolling into the office with your mind on your to-do list, and a cat could simply appear and change your life forever — as pets so often do.

Gosh, who would have thought it, but at least I was right in suspecting you were talking about something I had never heard of. :joy:

As far as I am aware nothing like that exists with dogs, mainly I think because they are much less likely to be on the loose as cats are. But attraction at first sight from human to dog and back again does exist.

I saw a picture of a Rottweiler, rescued from Spain. I said to my wife ā€˜look at the smile on that dog’ and she said I expect you’ll go to collect him. Rottweilers, because they have such broad skulls and big mouths have the smile to beat all smiles when they feel like it. Anyway, I went to Paris to the refuge and they brought him to me on a lead. I fell to my knees so I was on his level and opened my arms.He came straight in tight to put his head on my shoulder as I enclosed my arms around him. The assistants were stunned as I said instantly, ā€˜I’ll take him’. His smiles were rare though and I don’t have that photo, most of the time he looked gloomy, as you can see, top left.

That’s a lovely story. I’ll be waiting to see if Hades ends up staying with you and Jules.

He’s a bit young for me, I normally have older dogs, just as easy to train and less flighty for an old man, but who knows, he spent the first hour of the first night on my bed and he has a particular fancy for licking my beard. :joy:

He’s hoovering up your leftover supper (sorry, couldn’t resist)

I love Rottweilers. So much character and so intelligent. I bonded with an Afghan refugee here in France who was exercising his mate’s Rottweiler because of the dog (soft as clarts).

That’s useful info. My next project might be a dog. I much prefer older cats, for the same reason and because they have more personality.

Hmmmmmmm. We’ll see!

Slightly different last night. As I was reading my book before sleep in bed Hades came in and jumped to settle alongside me. He made himself comfy with his head across my upper legs. OK while I was reading but no good for sleeping so I twisted and levered him round to be alongside. At that point Jules appeared. He normally transfers from the settee alongside my chair to the one that faces my bedroom door at bedtime, but that one now contains the massive bed that Hades brought with him. So he wants to sleep with me, up he came and I manoeuvered him into a suitable position but, not ideal, I am a single bloke in a double bed for a reason.

We settled down but I was not unhappy when first Jules, and then Hades, departed to leave me on my own. During the night though I felt another body alongside, no problem, plenty of room left for me and this morning I saw that it was Jules again but way out of my required space so happy with that.

Now for the justification in a photo thread. During the evening Hades had upset his bed which slid halfway off the settee, but he nevertheless made himself comfy where it was. :joy:

OMG, Walter! :melting_face::brown_heart:

Butter wouldn’t melt, would it? Walter is gorgeous.

I love dogs with sensible names. He even looks like a Walter to me. :joy:

He is named after harmonica player Little Walter. He loves music too!
