This Friday, the 24th Sept sees that start of the three day ‘Fête de la Gastronomie’ where food lovers all over France get the chance to eat, drink and celebrate the wonderful abundance of fresh regional food that is such a feature of French life. The official government website will let you see what’s going on in your area and a quick search around our area revealed special gourmet breakfasts, a lakeside picnic ‘champêtre’ and jazz concert run with local small scale producers and a free foie gras and cocktail tasting session. Mmm!

At the same time the 'Tous au Restaurant’ campaign has kicked off and runs for two weeks from 19/09 - 02/10. Started by leading chef Alain Ducasse, the idea is to get people, especially those with limited budgets into gourmet restaurants and experiencing fine cuisine. Under the slogan ‘Your guest is our guest’ the promotion lets you ‘buy one get one free’ - you simply pay for one menu, starter, main course and dessert, and get another three course meal for free. At some restaurants the deal also includes a specialist cheese plate too - bargain! You can find the participating restaurants here and you do have to reserve online.
This really is a great opportunity to try some fantastic food at very reasonable prices. Bon appétit !
