Star trekkin by the Firm I believe ?
Thatâs the one.
Kirk (nor any other character) never said âBeam me up, Scottyâ either
He did say âScotty, beam me upâ in the movie Star Trek IV though⌠but by that time the catch-phrase was probably established so it was most likely a nod to it by the scriptwriters.
The automated systems are designed to implement EES, and so will be used for non EU passports as well as EU passports. They will be used to automatically log entry/exit for non EU passports to automate the 90 day rule. The problem occurs if you have a non EU passport and a residency card as the automated system canât cope with this, so manual checking will be required.
As do we. We did get our passports stamped regardless the first few times.
Travelled to our vet today to collect the pet travel document, hes very close to the eurotunnel terminal in Ashford. Wow what have they done to the M20, looked like 3 lanes are for the expected 10 miles of queues to get into the terminal. All at 30mph! The biggest hazzard is the 10 miles of 3 lanes of cones. The rest of the M20 is now just a dual carriageway. Thing is, its not really needed yet. You can drive around the queue section by staying on the M20 until jct 9
Whole thing looks daft but the queuing time come October could be 10 miles x 3 lanes so leave about 4 hours extra?
Still no news on the exact implementation date of EES, but lots of anguish in the papers.
If it is 6 October, theyâre cutting it a bit fine.
Question. We normally tunnel, but Iâm thinking that a ferry - with a fixed number of cars and passengers - would be able to manage EES more easily. Any thoughts?
No real idea how much it will affect one over the other but the tunnel has built a lot more lanes and kiosks to handle the situation, not seen that at Dover or any other port, anyone seen different?
Has it? I didnât notice when we went in April, though (as always) there seemed a lot of work going on all over the place!
Cant vouch for it personally but do keep an eye on the Kent news.
Not seen or heard of the ferry port doing much.
I am told they are doing constuction works in the area around the checkin kiosks at Newhaven port.
I will confirm or deny that when I return in August.
Weâre going back that way in September, so hopefully all flowing ok still then.
Apparently (currently) EES begins 17 November.
And will be beset with the problems and delays we fear.
Hope Starmer can negotiate something.
Which is a bit of a pain as I am flying to France a day after it starts
Iâm hoping for another postponement!
Ouch.
Weâre planning a trip but the dates arenât fixed yet - looks like we best make it w/c 4th or 11th
Anyway I thought it was the 10th with an option to roll back to the 17th if there were problems.
Lets hope so, hate being a guinea pig, flying into Lyon so I expect thats where the hold up might be.
Unfortunately heâs ruled out returning to Freedom of Movement which is what it would take to avoid ETIAS I think.
