Employed by UK company but working 6-9months in France

This is probably the most appropriate way to go around it. I have found some online calculators and social as we know is significantly higher for employer in Fr vs UK. Might need to sacrifice some of the salary so I end up costing company not much more which I think I am willing to do considering I will get a move

Sorry for sounding a bit grumpy - but I did post that link for you 2 days ago as being the way to go!

Hi Jane

Spend few hours going through various forums and webpages and that seems to be the most appropriate way.
Thnx Jane

Hi Geoff,

I am reading past threads about being employed by UK companies, while being resident in France, because I have been recently offered a full-time UK contract. The situation that youā€™ve described seems to be rare compared to most, who seem to follow the registration of their UK company at URSSAF. What are the benefits of your dual tax residency, does your UK company need to be registered with URSSAF?

Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim - I actually wound up my UK company and semi-retired last year - but no, it was not registered with URSSAF. As to the relative costs/benefits of different arrangements, I donā€™t think thereā€™s a simple formula - my understanding is that your exact personal and employment circumstances will determine both what you are allowed to do, and what is optimal for you - so I advise you strongly to get specialist advice from tax accountants with offices and specialists in both the UK and France (I used Shreeve Hallam Jones).

Hi Geof,

Understood. I donā€™t actually know any other options at the moment. So, it is a little hard to compare. I will reach out to some financial advisors. I had a rather unpleasant experience with the accountant you mention when we first moved over, whom I had hired to do our split year tax returns. I have since had better luck with financial lawyers at RSM accountants. Dā€™audit, expertise et conseil | RSM France

Iā€™m sorry I donā€™t have time this evening left to go back and read the whole thread but basically if you incidentally work more than 25% of your time in France then not just you but much more financially significantly your employer, must do everything required as though they employed you here including paying all the employer taxes and social contributions as well as you being liable on your salary too. I hope thatā€™s what others above have been saying! The Double Taxation agreeement between UK and France only mitigates some things.
