I don't know if I am right in thinking that Equity Release does not exist in France - can anyone enlighten me please.

Hello Sally

A form of Equity Release is available in France. I think that the only Bank that run such a scheme is Credit Fonciere.

I went through the process last year and you need to be aware that interest rates they charge are very high (8%) and the process is very bureaucratic (they need certified copies of Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Children's Birth Certificates, etc) and takes a long time (6 months plus).
