The Christian religion is rife with peadophiles.
No Jane, they are only madmen when they are white Christians, anything else and they are called terrorists.
More problematic for atheists or polytheists actually, than for Christians or Jews who are ahl al kitab ie people of the book, fellow monotheists. Islam isn’t incompatible with western Christian life at all, but the politics of many Muslim countries are.
There is nothing in the Qur’an about women being breeding machines, in fact a lot less than there is in eg the Bible (both testaments). This is an appalling attack, but as I think religion is as usual being instrumentalised and used cynically to manipulate people and actually has very little to do with religious faith.
I read Arabic (and Persian as spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and parts of central Asia), do you?

I have some sympathy with the view that western civilisation is in decline, but think the reasons for that decline have little or nothing to do with Islam, but lots to do with the marauding and exploitative nature of Western civilisation as it has affected other civilisations to the East and to the South.
Some call it karma, or retribution. but it’s never too late to seek to reconcile and seek peace with our fellow humans across the globe. It’s the sensible way forward.

Many of my friends are ‘western’ muslims, and I am a ‘western’ jew. So I really don’t understand what you mean by “western christian life”. All my muslim friends reject what is happening as being completely contrary to islamic beliefs. No religion is exempt from having committed historic horrific acts - Hitler was after all a western Christian.

THAT is the attitude from ‘that’ cult - I truly despair of those who refuse to acknowledge or accept that there is no way this cult can exist within the western christian based civilisation.
Who in that ‘cult’ will ever be allowed to lead their own reformation ? It will never be allowed - because the Koran cannot be changed.

You seem to fond of dogmatic, absolutist assertions, yourself. How do you “know” it will never be allowed? You can’t “know” because such possibilities are unknowable, by you or anyone else. You can only speculate based on your solitary evidence which must be scant. That much will be apparent to you if you "think’ about it, as you advise others so urgently.

Many indignant leaders of muslim countries are simply following Erdogan’s example of attacking French laïcité in order to distract from their domestic political and economic problems.
Rather than viewing Islam as being incompatible with ‘Western values’ I’d prefer to suggest that:-
Islamic fundamentalist values appear depressingly similar to those of white, US libertarian, gun-toting evangelical Christians. However, to be fair to those barmy evangelicals, the most serious act of US ‘domestic terrorism’ was enacted by a young Catholic, incel libertarian headcase, who blew up the Oklahoma City Federal Building, killing 168 people.
By contrast, for most of the past millennium and beyond, muslim countries were far more tolerant of Christians and Jews than were their European counterparts.
I’m not seeking to defend or excuse contemporary ‘Islamo-barbaro-fascism’, merely trying to point out that for much of post-Roman Western history, it was the Europeans who were the barbarians.

The main reason the Taliban (appalling bunch of people) became such a problem was because the aforementioned evangelical Christians thought they were good godfearing boys (unlike eg Massoud’s nasty socialist lot) who were on da lawd’s side doing battle with the dread red atheist soviets and funded them like mad just as the Saudis did. You reap what you sow.

I know nothing about any religion, as I was raised as a Catholic until i was 14yrs, and then I saw the light 
and thats how I like to keep it
When I lived in Brum, I had many Muslim friends, not one of them tried to kill me, unless you call a dodgy curry from “Saleems” , attempted murder

Following on from Mark Hayward’s point, painting all muslims as fundamentalists with alien values is a bit like saying all white people are white supremacists.

Why do you think the Koran can be changed then ? What changes have been attempted since the 6th/7th century that has moved Islam a few centuries forward from that time ?
As for comments about ‘indignant leaders…simply following Erdogan…’ - fine, accept that point.
The only problem with that view, ie allowing these leaders to strut their silly little stuff - is that there are enough nut-cases in that cult to actually believe - and be incited to - commit the very violence we are seeing in France.
Maybe these silly little male leaders should just keep quiet - and not incite other stupid rabid followers of the ‘religion of peace’ into violence.
