Roz - If you are a UK retirement pensioner you have to get it from Newcastle and they now last 5 years. From your phoo you don't look old enough to be a pensioner but for the future . . . . ;-)
Alternatively you can ring Newcastle and get the form which comes in a few days and you send it back and the card arrives a week or so after. Husband preferred to do this, although I got mine on line. But you may be more comfortable making a call to an English speaker.
we did ours (RSI) a fortnight ago, and they took a week. It's kind of hidden but it's there.
It's a pain having to do it every year, the UK ones last 3 years. Anyway I put a reminder in my portable to go off every year which worked!
Sadly my french isn't good enough yet
Typical French website. Do your utmost to get into their office. The only way to get things done quickly is by seeing people in their office. Plenty of people will tell you the same.
They do Brian but today their site keeps saying service temporarily unavailable please try later and the english speaking line is not working, I can only assume it is down due to the bad snow here
Point is that CPAM should do much the same.
Thanks Brian but we are not with RSI
We just needed them a couple of weeks ago because my wife and daughters have gone to visit family in Switzerland. The girls' ones had run out. OH went to the RSI office for me, since children are inevitably under Papa, anyway they arrived inside about 10 days.
Also good you reminded me, because mine ran out at exactly the same time, so my turn now!
Yep, used the online account you mentioned.
Depends, If you signed up with CPAM for your Carte Vital using your S1 after retirement then Newcastle should have sent you an application form for a new EHIC.
Thank you Tracy, did you order yours from Ameli
Regime Sociale des Independants - for the self employed.
CPAM does still do them on line, I ordered ours just before Christmas and they arrived in less than a week. If you are running late they will send you a paper attestation.
Hi Catharine, thanks for your reply, What is RSI?
We are with the RSI and I have always been able to order them online - but it does take a while :(
Hi Suzanne, thanks for your reply
I have an online account with CPAM called Ameli and it has a facility to order it online but I have been trying for days and it keeps saying this service is temporarily unavailable please try later, I was just wondering if they still did it - our local office is some way off from us so I was trying to avoid the trip
Roz - I understand to get your carte européenne d’assurance maladie you must go along to your local CPAM office at least 2 weeks before travelling. They have an English speaking helpline for those that need help 08 11 36 36 46. My understanding is that you are all entitled to a card as long as you already have an attestation in France or Carte Vitale and that the card is valid for a year. We got ours no problems but thanks for reminding me as mine has expired I think!
